What was your favorite Bible story as a child? Was it "Jonah and the Whale"? Or "Daniel in the Lion's Den"? Maybe it was "Noah and the Ark.” My favorite, for obvious reasons, was always “David and Goliath.”
Tomorrow morning I’ll tell this old tale for the preschoolers in our church daycare. Every Thursday we get together for “chapel,” a time for songs and stories. The story of the boy named David who went up against a giant is a classic scripture saga. His incredible bravery foreshadowed his amazing rise to become King.
Everyone loves an underdog story, a story about the little guy who beats the big bully. David is that character. But David gave credit where credit was due. “This day the Lord will deliver you into my hands . . . and the whole world will know that there is a God in Israel." (I Samuel 17:46)
