March 8, 2024 - Good Morning! It's Friday, March 8.
This morning I'm thinking of the name Edwin Hubble. On this day in 1935, this astronomer produced photographs that proved a startling discovery. Before that time, most people thought that the universe was made up only of our galaxy, the Milky Way. But Hubble showed the world that there were as many other galaxies as there were stars in our own - billions. In 1990, when NASA launched its first space telescope, they gave it the name Hubble.
This story reminded me of the lyric from the classic hymn, "How Great Thou Art" - O Lord, my God, when I in awesome wonder, consider all the worlds Thy hands have made! Even as our world seems to get smaller and smaller, astronomers tell us that our universe is just getting bigger and bigger. And it's all the handiwork of our Creator, a God who chooses, in His infinite power, to know your name.
Meet you back here on Monday,
Bro. David
