August 2, 2024 - Good Morning! It's Friday, August 2.
What is life?
That's a pretty serious question for a late summer Friday morning. But it's an eternal question that has crossed everyone's mind from time to time. What is the meaning of life?
Is life just the accumulation of time? I did some math and figured out that I've lived 24,733 days, 595,160 hours, 35,711,920 minutes. I had to lie down after that. And that's something I've spent about 200,000 hours doing - sleeping.
Is life just the accumulation of knowledge? Everyone's gathered a certain amount of facts related to their jobs or hobbies or interests. We've also devoted a significant number of brain cells to less important matters. For instance, I can sing every word in the Flintstones theme song.
Is life just the accumulation of things? Things can bring us pleasure, even comfort. But as the old saying goes - you can't take it with you - and your family doesn't want it. I joke with my daughters that, when I pass, they'll probably have a combination memorial service/garage sale.
So, in the end, what are we here for? What is our purpose? What is life? Perhaps it's as simple as the truth that we find in Isaiah 43:7.
"We are created to bring God glory."
Meet you back here on Monday,
Bro. David
