Four of Shelby County’s five varsity football teams won district games last week.
The Center Roughriders took a 49-12 home win over the Brownsboro Bears last Friday. The win improves the ‘Riders regular season mark to 7-1 and their District 8 4A-2 standing is at 2-1. They will next travel to Athens on Friday, November 1, 2024 for a 7:30 p.m. kickoff at Athen’s Hornets Stadium. The Hornets are 6-2 overall and 2-1 in conference play after winning 48-9 at Rusk last Friday.
The Joaquin Rams are 5-3 overall and 2-1 in District 11 2A-1 after falling at home by a 52-49 score to the Timpson Bears last Friday. The Rams will host the 6-1 Shelbyville Dragons on Thursday, October 31 at 7:30 p.m. at Rams Stadium. The Dragons are 7-1 overall and 3-0 in District 11 after beating the visiting San Augustine Wolves last week by a 39-17 score.
Timpson is 4-3 overall and 2-1 in District 11 2A-1 action. They will host the Garrison Bulldogs on Friday, November 1 at 7:30 p.m. at John Herbert Eakin Stadium. GHS is 6-2 overall and 2-1 in the conference after a 37-0 home win last week over Hemphill.
The Tenaha Tigers gained their first District 11 2A-2 win last week when they beat the Cushing Bearkats 31-8. Tenaha is 2-7 overall and 1-4 in the conference. They will travel to Grapeland Sandies Stadium on Friday, November 1 for a 7 p.m. kickoff. GHS is 6-2 overall and 3-1 in District 11 competition.
