November 8, 2024 –The National Forests and Grasslands in Texas will offer a fee-free day for to the public on Monday, November 11, in honor of Veterans Day for day use areas listed below.
“As we honor the brave men and women who have served our country, we are proud to offer a fee-free day on the National Forests and Grasslands in Texas this Veterans Day. It’s our way of saying thank you and providing a place for veterans, their families, and all Americans to connect with nature and enjoy the peace and beauty of our public lands. We invite everyone to explore these natural treasures and reflect on the sacrifices made for our freedom,” said forest supervisor Kimpton Cooper.
Camping fees remain in effect, but day-use fees are waived at these recreation areas and trails:
- Angelina National Forest – Boykin Springs, Caney Creek, and Townsend.
- Sabine National Forest – Haley’s Ferry, East Hamilton, Indian Mounds, Lakeview, and Willow Oak.
- Davy Crockett National Forest – Ratcliff Lake.
- Sam Houston National Forest – Cagle Boat Ramp, Scotts Ridge Boat Ramp.
- Caddo and Lyndon B. Johnson National Grasslands – Coffee Mill Lake, Black Creek Lake, and East Lake Crockett.
