Bears Fall to Garrison by 13-2 Score in District 23 Baseball

The Timpson Bears varsity baseball team fell to the visiting Garrison Bulldogs by a 13-2 score on Tuesday. The game was a District 23 2A game and gives the Bears a 9-7 season record and a 2-7 conference mark. Garrison is 20-3 overall and they hold a 10-0 district mark.

Timpson gained the first lead when Conner Crawford reached base to start the bottom of the first inning and Cole Bruister homered to leftfield with one out to give Timpson a 2-0 run lead early.

Garrison tied the game at 2-2 runs in the top of the second inning with scores from Shelton Beavers and Jack Richardson.  Sam Adkinson hit a solo homerun in the top of the third frame which gave GHS a 3-2 run advantage.

Garrison batted around in the top of the fourth frame and they extended their lead to 7-2. The Bulldogs brought ten batters to the plate in the top of the fifth inning and they were able to extend their lead to 13-2 runs over the Bears. The bottom of the fifth frame saw the Bulldogs defense hold and the 11-run lead ended the game by 10-run mercy rule.

The Bears will head to Joaquin on Friday, Aprill 11 for a 6 p.m. district game with the Rams. Joaquin lost at home to the Gary Bobcats by a 6-2 score on Tuesday.
