Center Roughriders Stadium on Friday, September 5, 2025 –
The Center Roughriders varsity football team has moved their season record to 2-0 with a 62-15 win over the Spring Hill Panthers. The Roughriders never trailed. The ‘Rider’s defense only allowed the Panthers to reach the endzone once in each the first and second half.
Center junior quarterback Easton Wulf capped a 77-yard drive with a 5-yard keeper run for the game’s first touchdown. A Pablo Huichapa extra point kick gave CHS a 7-0 point lead at the 9:49 minute mark of the first quarter.
Spring Hill tied the game after Noah Weber returned Centers’ kickoff 77 yards to the Center 21-yardline. Asher Young scored the Panthers first touchdown on a 9-yard touchdown run. The Panther extra point kick was good and the game was tied at 7-7 at the 9:04 mark of the first period.
Jaysis Villegas gave Center a 14-7 lead at the 7:39 mark of the first stanza with a 23-yard scoring run.
In the second quarter Center went up 21-7 when Jeremy Bluford scored on a 11-yard touchdown run at the 11:28 minute mark. Wulf extended the ‘Rider’s lead to 27-7 when he scored on a 5-yard touchdown run with 6:50 left in the first half. Wulf later found Christyce Barnes for a 39-yard scoring strike which boosted the Roughrider’s lead to 34-7 just seconds before the halftime break.
In the third quarter JK Barnes hauled down a Roughriders reception and scored to help give CHS a 41-7 advantage at the 8:04 mark. Easton Wulf scored later on a 61-yard touchdown run at the 4:48 mark which gave CHS a 48-7 lead. Spring Hill answered with their only score of the second half when Joseph Ventura pulled down a touchdown reception at the 2:27 mark. Center led 48-15.
A Bluford 51-yard touchdown run with 2:11 left in the third stanza, and a Villegas touchdown run late in the fourth period helped CHS secure the 62-15 point win.
The Roughriders will next travel to North Desoto, La. To face the Griffins at Griffins Stadium on Friday, September 12, 2025 at 7 p.m. NDHS is 1-0 this season after winning at Union Parrish by a 46-3 score on Friday.
