Riley Lee Owens, 56, of Mt. Enterprise, passed away on Monday, February 23, 2023 in Lufkin, Texas. He was born on July 10, 1969, the son of Thelbert A Owens and Linda K. Byrd Stuart.
Graveside service will be held at 2pm on Saturday, February 28, 2026 at Woodlawn Cemetery, Timpson with Bro. Darrell Flanagan officiating.
Riley Lee Owens was raised in Mt. Enterprise, where he also attended school. Riley had a profound love of being outdoors and enjoyed nothing more than spending his time hunting and fishing. As a true outdoorsman, his time spent in the woods and underbrush that is what defines the landscape of East Texas, came to be his favorite place to be. As he grew up, and as it is with most boys and young men, he also developed a great passion for working on and tinkering with cars. This particular interest led him to something that also became important in his life….drag racing. Riley loved racing and was quite good at it. He spent many weekends at the Hallsville track and won numerous trophies over the years, something he was very proud of.
Riley was blessed with a loving family and a vast but deliberate group of friends that he truly loved and cherished but his greatest blessing was his son, Robert Lee Owens. Robert brought an immense amount of joy and thanksgiving to his life and he was beyond proud to be his father.

Allen Owens and wife Gloria
Joe Owens and wife Sandy
As well as numerous nieces and nephews and their children.
Riley is preceded in death by his grandparents, lovingly referred to as “Mamaw” Loretta Crain; “Granny” Leo Flanagan, “Grandma” Opal Owens, “Papaw Owens” Buford Owens, “Papaw” Robert Page, and stepfather, David Stuart.
Serving as pallbearers will be Cecil Wayne Owens, Kaden Arvello, Allen Owens, Joe Owens, and Kooper Dawson.
Services are under the direction Taylor Funeral Home, Timpson, Texas.
