Frank Henry Horton, formerly of Tenaha, Texas spent a happy day Wednesday, March 18, 2026 celebrating his and his wife, Cheryl’s 48th anniversary, not knowing that his celebration would continue the next morning when he would wake up in Heaven with his Lord and Savior. Frank was ready and prepared for the occasion.
However, the loved ones he left behind can’t help but grieve and feel a loss:
Wife, Cheryl Harris Horton
Daughters:
Amber and Scott Miller and their children, Hank and Eliza of Sebastian, Florida
April and Mike Crow and their children, Hodges, Skylar and Abby of Celina, Texas
His grandchildren called him Papa Tex. He had a heart and personality as big as Texas.
Brothers and their families:
Lance and Barbara
George and Bennette
Sister-in-law, Terri Harris
He had a cousin who lived a few blocks from him, Gaye Bagwell Scudder, also Glenda Bagwell Hendrix, and Rhetha Ann Horton Chapman, and Dana Bowlin Hasley.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sid and Gladys Horton.
Frank worked at Texas Health for 31 years. He donated his body for research to UT Southwestern so his service will be at a later time at his church (planned April 4, at 4:00) at Shady Oaks Baptist church in Hurst, where he played Bass guitar in the praise band, and served in their music program for 25 years. Some of his fellow singers from the “Singing Christians” will sing at his service. We would love to get to hear his voice blend in with them one more time, but he had an appointment with a heavenly choir to meet.
Frank Horton: June 1, 1950 - March 19, 2026.
