Sandra Rhea Morris

05/06/2026

Sandra Rhea Morris, 76, formerly of Center, Texas, passed away on May 2, 2026, in Wells, Texas. She was born on July 2, 1949, in Fort Worth, Texas, to the late William (Bill) Marshel Morris and Lena Marie (Braswell) Morris.

Celebration of Life will be held at 1PM on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at First Baptist Church, Center, Texas, with Bro. Porter Brewer officiating.

Sandra was born in Fort Worth, Texas. She grew up in Arlington, Texas. She lived many years in Farmersville, Texas before moving to Center, Texas. A broken bone that would never heal landed her in the nursing home in Tyler, Texas and then most recently in Wells, Texas.

Sandra graduated from Eastern Hills High School in Fort Worth. She later earned her Bachelor of Science from Texas Wesleyan University. She earned her Master of Early Childhood at East Texas State University. She earned an Elementary Self Contained (1-8) and Pre-K to Kindergarten teaching certificates. She worked as a teacher at KinderCare Learning Center and St. Rita’s Catholic School before getting a Kindergarten teacher position with Community ISD in Nevada, Texas. She built a legacy there by being an incredible teacher from 1974-2002. She also served as the cheerleader and drill team sponsor at the high school for several years while teaching Kindergarten. She taught many students and even some of their children. She retired with a total of 31 years as a certified teacher. After retirement she spent some time volunteering in classrooms for Center ISD in Center, Texas.

Sandra grew up in the Tate Springs Baptist Church in Fort Worth. She joined the First Baptist Church of Center after moving there. She enjoyed participating in her adult Sunday School class and the volunteer opportunities that the ladies participated in. She also enjoyed teaching children’s Sunday School for awhile.

Sandra had no children of her own but that did not keep her from loving and caring for children. Her niece and nephews were loved and at times spoiled by her. She attended all of their life experiences that she possibly could, birthdays, baptisms, recitals, award ceremonies, christenings, weddings, etc. She shared that same love and attention to her great nieces and nephews. She was in the nursing home when the great-great-nieces and nephews were all born so she loved them from afar. She loved sharing stories about all of her family members and seeing pictures from all of the events she was unable to attend. In addition to the children of her family members she enjoyed watching her friends’ children and her former students grow, succeed and have families of their own.

She loved and was loved by many. She will be missed. She will be remembered as someone that cared about others and showed it. She will also be remembered as someone that loved the color red, collected owls, was an avid reader, and could complete the crossword puzzle in the newspaper.

She is survived by her niece, Lena Nickle and husband Dyson Jr.
