June 8, 2026 - Mobile operations will happen around the Lufkin District
Drivers in the Lufkin District should stay alert and watch for moving operations on several roadways around the district where pavement testing will occur this month.
Weather permitting, falling weight deflectometer (FWD) testing will occur as follows:
June 9, Nacogdoches County
- US 59/US 259 interchange.
June 10, Polk County
- US 190 between Yaupon Avenue and Jewell Coleman Road.
- US 59 from just north of the Texas Department of Transportation Livingston Area Office south to .36 miles north of the BU 59 intersection.
June 11, San Jacinto County
- US 59 from J&L Recycling to approximately 3.7 miles north.
- FM 1127 from the US 59 intersection to approximately .25 miles east. .
- SL 424 from the US 59 intersection to Lone Star Feed.
June 16, Angelina County
- BU 69 from just north of Sellers Street to BU 59.
- BU 69 between Timberland Drive and SL 287.
- SH 103 between US 59 and Timberland Drive.
- FM 58 between SL 287 and US 69.
- US 69 between SH 7 and Clemsa Lumber near Pollok.
June 18, Shelby County
- SH 7 between FM 711 and FM 1165.
- FM 139 between FM 417 and FM 3172.
- June 23, San Augustine County
- SH 103 and SH 147 intersection.
FWD testing is performed periodically to gather data on the structural strength of roadways. No damage is done to the pavement. The results will help determine what work may be necessary in the future.
These are moving operations requiring lane closures where the work is occurring. Drivers should slow down to 20 mph below the posted speed limit when traveling past crews and stay alert for workers and equipment.
