SC Commissioners' Court Regular Meeting Agenda, Aug. 12

August 6, 2026 - Notice is hereby given that a Regular meeting of the Governing body of the Shelby County Commissioners’ Court will be held on the 12th day of August, 2026 at 9:30am in the Courtroom of the Shelby County Courthouse at 200 San Augustine Street, Center, Shelby County, Texas to deliberate and consider action on the following items:

1. Approve the minutes of: July 1st Special Meeting, July 8th Regular Meeting, July 15th Special Meeting, July 22nd Special Meeting and July 29th Special Meeting.

2. Approve and pay weekly expenses.

3. Approve current payroll.

4. Public comments on Agenda item.

5. Approve Officers Report.

6. Discuss and possibly approve the appointment of Mrs. Carey Jordan for a two-year term to represent Shelby County on the Burke Board of Directors.

7. Discuss and possibly accept the proposed 2026-2027 Proposed Tax Rate.

8. Ratify the Burn Ban issued on August 5th.

9. Announce the official notice of the award from the Texas Historical Commission for a Full Restoration Grant for the Shelby County Historical Courthouse project.

10. Discuss and take action to move forward with JRJ Construction for the Historic Jail Window Restoration project.

11. Discuss and possibly approve the proposal amount from ISCH Plumbing for the installation of new sewer piping for the shop building at the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office.

Executive Session:

12. An Executive Session will also be held for the purpose of discussing personnel, hearing complaints against personnel, or to deliberate the appointed, employment evaluation, reassignment, duties, discipline, or dismissal of a public officer or employee. The closed session is authorized by the Texas Open Meeting Act, Texas Government Code Section 551.074.

13. Reopen public meeting.

14. Discuss and possibly make a decision on issues in Executive Session.

15. Commissioners’ Court Reports: These are for informational purposes only. Any action that needs to be taken on the basis of these reports will be placed on a future agenda for action.
