September 7, 2026 (Photo Album) - The Joaquin Rams varsity football team improved their season mark to 2-0 with a 76-20 point win at Raymond Jackson Tenaha Tigers Stadium on Friday, September 4th. Tenaha is now 1-1 this season.
Tenaha received the opening kickoff but a flag against the Tigers set them back in their first drive. However, 3rd and 16 did not scare QB Jacobe Calloway from throwing the ball almost 70 yards to #4, Darian Meneffee, for a touchdown. The two-point conversion was no good, giving the Tigers an early 6-0 lead. The Rams wasted no time retaliating. On their first play, Cooper Bragg busted loose for a 51-yard touchdown run. The Rams added a 2-point conversion run score and JHS led 8-6 with 9:40 left in the first quarter.
The Tigers’ second offensive drive went 4-plays but punted the football back to Joaquin, avoiding Cooper Bragg on the receiving end. On first down, Cooper Bragg bolted 55-yards for Joaquin’s second touchdown. Bragg added a 2-point conversion run which gave JHS a 16-6 advantage with 7:25 left in the first period.
Tenaha running back Kori Miles and QB Calloway teamed up to run the ball down the field but the Joaquin defense held them off. Joaquin intercepted the ball at their own 4-yard line; Cooper Bragg ran 93-yards for his third touchdown of the night. Now 3-0 on two-point conversions, Joaquin jumped ahead 23-6 at the end of the first quarter.
Tenaha had the ball for the first drive of the second quarter; at 4th and 6, Calloway threw a 40-yard pass to Meneffee for a Tiger Touchdown, now trailing 24-13. Joaquin’s Amarion Wilson added another touchdown run to his resume as he ran 65-yards in their first drive of the 2nd quarter. Joaquin had another successful 2-point conversion, score of 32-13 with 10 minutes left in the half. Despite a holding penalty at the 2-minute mark, Tenaha’s Calloway ran for a 60-yard touchdown, narrowing the gap, 32-20. On their next drive, Joaquin added another touchdown and 2-point conversion, and this ballooned their lead to 40-20.
Joaquin was able to take advantage of a Tenaha fumble on the punt return, putting them at their own 25-yard line. Joaquin scored another touchdown and two-point conversion, expanding their lead to 48-20. On the next Tenaha drive, Cooper Bragg intercepted the ball, resulting in another touchdown and two-point conversion for the Rams; 56-20 at the end of the half.
The third quarter saw Joaquin’s Bragg for a punt return, landing Joaquin at Tenaha’s 15-yard line, giving them an easy touchdown play for Wilson. After a failed two-point conversion, Joaquin now on top 62-20. After an unsuccessful Tiger drive, Wilson ran another touchdown for Joaquin; Joaquin led 70-20 with 5:20 left in the 3rd. Tenaha caught a break with a turnover at Joaquin’s 49-yard line but was unable to do much with the opportunity. After a long and uneventful third quarter, Dagan Lee increased the Ram’s lead to 76-20 with 6:30 left in the game. At the 2-minute mark, Joaquin’s Hunter Kay intercepted a pass thrown by Calloway, wrapping up the ball game; final score 76-20, Joaquin.
The Rams will have a bye week next week, then come back on September 18 to host Grand Saline.
The Tigers will head to Big Sandy on Thursday, September 10 for a 7pm kickoff at Wildcat Stadium.
