September 15, 2026 (Game Photo Album, Cornation Album coming soon) - The Shelbyville Dragon varsity football team improved their season record to 3-0 after a 42-9 point Homecoming win over the Corrigan-Camden Bulldogs (1-2) on Friday. Before the game Shelbyville senior student Kaylee Vaughn was crowned as SHS Homecoming Queen.

It was a slow start for the Shelbyville Dragons. Corrigan-Camden elected to receive, starting on their own 38-yard line. Dragon defense had big hits on the first drive of the game pushing the Bulldogs back for loss of yardage. Shelbyville running back Ronnie Williams had back-to-back 1st downs, but at 4th-and-5, QB Gavin McDonald was unable to connect with Hunter Harvey, putting the Bulldogs at midfield with 7:08 left in the first quarter. The Bulldogs took advantage of a hole in the defensive line for a 25-yard rushing gain. Offense could not get the ball into the end zone, but Hinojosa put Corrigan-Camden on the scoreboard first after a successful field goal attempt; Bulldogs lead 3-0.
Bulldog defense used that momentum for a quick defensive stop; Keil’s punt put Corrigan-Camden at their own 48-yard line with 4:15 remaining in the opening quarter. Again, the Corrigan-Camden offense got close, but not close enough to score. Their field-goal attempt was no-good, keeping the lead 3-0. The Dragons offense finally started warming up, Ronnie Williams III ran the ball through the end of the first quarter; beginning the 2nd quarter at 2nd and 2, McDonald threw to Bryan Scarborough for a 51-yard touchdown; now leading 7-3.
A huge interception by Hunter Harvey at 3rd and 7 for the Bulldogs, bringing it back to midfield for the Dragons with 10:17 to go in the first half. After a penalty flag pushed them back to 3rd and 15, McDonald found Jared’s Hargrove at the 28-yard line for a big pass play. Hargrove later scored the Dragon’s second touchdown and Edwin Vazquez’s kick was good for the extra point, Dragons lead 14-3. On the Dragon’s following drive, Ji Polley ran the ball up to the 10 yard line, making it an easy running touchdown for McDonald, Dragons leading 21-3 with 3:00 minutes left in the 1st half. In their last drive of the quarter, the Dragons took advantage of a pass-interference penalty and Ronnie Williams ran a 19-yard touchdown, giving the Dragons a 28-3 lead at the half.
Shelbyville started the 2nd half at the 34-yard line; a 15-yard rush and a 15-yard penalty against the Bulldogs, Shelbyville's Andy Johnson ran 25-yards for another Dragon touchdown; Dragons up 35-3 and 10:33 remaining in the quarter. With 2:50 left in the third, Shelbyville was unable to get a fourth-down conversion; an unsportsmanlike conduct flag against them gave the Bulldogs a first down at their own 35-yard line. Corrigan-Camden ran a 65-yard touchdown, but a flag on the play brought them back to the 46-yard line. The Bulldogs still found a way to score their first touchdown, but the extra point kick was no good; Bulldogs trailing 35-9.
At the Bulldog’s 30-yard line, the Dragons had a holding call against them plus a fumble turnover; 10:55 remaining in the game. As the clock rolled, the Bulldogs inched down the field, but Hunter Harvey had his 2nd interception of the night at the 25-yard line. Harvey was taken down in the red zone; McDonald found Bryant Scarborough for an easy touchdown, widening their lead to 42-9 at the 7:30 mark. Neither team scored the rest of the game.
The Dragons will travel to Arp to take on the Tigers next Friday, September 18th. The Tigers are also 3-0 after beating White Oak 46-7 last week.
