September 23, 2026 - As a result of the continuing investigation by Center Police Department (CPD) detectives, the Center Police Department has arrested three individuals alleged to be involved in the incident at Tatum Street and Sampson Street on Wednesday, September 23, 2026.
According to the CPD Jamiyah Collins, 22, of Center has been charged with assault family violence, misdemeanor a; and possession of marijuana, misdemeanor b. Jakevious Moore, 21, of Center has been charged with aggravated assault family violence with a deadly weapon, felony 1; and possession of marijuana, state jail felony. Torian Allen, 25, of Center has been charged with assault causing bodily injury, misdemeanor a.
One shot is reported to have been fired; however, no one was struck by the projectile.
September 23, 2026 - Center Police Officers responded to the scene of an incident at the corner of Tatum and Sampson Streets on Wednesday, September 23, 2026.
When Shelby County Today arrived at the scene, four individuals were in handcuffs and one of them was being escorted into an ambulance on foot. After evaluation by EMS, that individual was apparently not injured and was released back to the scene where offivers then cordoned off the area.
Officers appeared to have confiscated several cell phones and removed them as possible evidence.
According to a social media post by the Center Police Department (CPD), they are investigating a reported disturbance and shots fired. At approximately 11:26am, the CPD received a 911 call reporting a physical disturbance with shots fired in the area of Tatum St. Initial reports also indicated that a one-year-old child had been hit.
Officers responded and conducted a preliminary investigation. Officers determined that no individuals had been shot or injured by gunfire during the incident.
The circumstances surrounding the disturbance and the report of shots fired remain under investigation by Detectives.
