September 24, 2026 - Last week was tough for Shelby County football varsity teams as all fell to their opponents. This week brings the teams another opportunity to hone their skills and bring home a win as they move closer to district games.
The Center Roughriders have yet to get a win this season as they fell to the Malakoff Tigers by a score of 54-3. The Roughriders are now 0-4 and will travel to Jasper on Friday, September 25 for a 7:30pm kickoff at Bulldog Stadium. The Bulldogs are 1-4 after falling to Woodville by an 18-10 score.
The Tenaha Tigers lost by a narrowing 40-35 score against Union Grove at home last week. Tenaha is now 2-2 and will host the Cross Roads Bobcats on Friday, September 25 at 7pm. The Bobcats are also 2-2 after shutting out Dallas Gateway by a 31-0 score.
The Shelbyville Dragons failed to remain undefeated after a 54-7 loss to Arp. The Dragons will take on the Tyler Grace Community Cougars on Friday, September 25 at 7:30pm. The Grace Cougars are 1-3. They gained their first win last week against New Boston by a 55-48 score.
The Timpson Bears fell to Palestine Westwood on Thursday 55-33. The Bears are now 3-1. Timpson will host the Arp Tigers on Friday, September 25 at 7:30pm. The Tigers are undefeated after besting Shelbyville 54-7 last Friday.
The Joaquin Rams suffered their first loss of the season to Grand Saline by a score of 36-35. The Rams will host Mansfield on Thursday, September 24 for a 7:30pm kickoff. Mansfield is 3-0 after they won against Magnolia 33-28.
