September 24, 2026 - Notice is hereby given that a Special meeting of the Governing body of the Shelby County Commissioners’ Court will be held on the 30th day of September 2026 at 9:30am in the Courtroom of the Shelby County Courthouse at 200 San Augustine Street, Center, Shelby County, Texas to deliberate and consider action on the following items:
1. Approve and pay weekly expenses.
2. Public comments on Agenda item.
3. Discuss and take action to disburse the Child Safety Fee.
4. Discuss and possibly take action on the current Burn Ban issued on Sept 17th, 2026.
5. Discuss and possibly approve a request, from adjoining landowner, to close a portion of County Road 2540 located in Shelby County, Texas; with said portion being the Southerly most end of County Road 2540 being 1,521.41 feet or .29 miles.
6. Discuss, consider, and possibly approve the assistance by Commissioner Precinct 4 to provide emergency action improving a road for medical purposes.
7. Discuss and possibly take action to set the date for the longevity pay for County employees.
8. Discuss and take action of FY 2026 Budget Line-Item transfers.
9. Discuss and possibly approve changing the Commissioner Court Meetings from weekly meetings to twice monthly on the 2nd Wednesday (Regular Meeting) and 4th Wednesday (Special Meeting) of each month. This change would take effect beginning Oct 14th with the Regular Meeting of the new fiscal year.
10. Clarification on whether SCSO Reserve Deputies are covered under Worker’s Compensation in the event of injury.
11. Discuss and possibly approve FY26 SB22 purchase of vehicle emergency equipment to be utilized in FY27 on a new Ford F-150 Police Responder pickup. (2) Quotes provided.
12. Discuss and possibly approve reattaching SCSO Radio Repeater and County-wide Fire Repeater on the City of Tenaha Water Tower and discuss the placement location on the structure itself to improve radio transmission. (2) Quotes provided.
13. Discuss and possibly take action on the part-time Secretary position at the Sheriffs Office.
14. Discuss and possibly approve the utilization of using two currently filled, but unutilized, Dispatch positions to recreate the current CID Investigator position proposed to be eliminated in the FY27 budget.
15. Commissioners’ Court Reports: These are for informational purposes only. Any action that needs to be taken on the basis of these reports will be placed on a future agenda for action.
