John Voyde Campbell (age 91) went to his eternal rest on April 8, 2026 surrounded by his wife of 65 years and his loving family. Born in Center, Texas on July 30, 1934, John loved his large family and Texas upbringing. John was an exceptional football player in high school and college (Trinity University) followed by what he called one of the most meaningful experiences of his life, his years as a Captain in the United States Army. In the Army, he was a pilot of both fixed wing aircrafts and helicopters.
Following his service, he continued to fly and moved his young family to the Atlanta area where he eventually embarked on a career in real estate and eventually home building. He was a firm believer in the love of Jesus Christ, the benefits of positive thinking and public speaking, and living a life of integrity. At the conclusion of his career, he was regarded as a well-respected home builder with countless happy homeowners.
He is survived by:
Loving wife, Virginia (Ginny)
Children:
Scott (Celeste) Campbell
Lisa (Bill) Kees
Michelle (Sandy) Jones
Otto Campbell
Julie (Francis) Shappard
He also absolutely adored being “Papa” to 13 grandchildren, Alex, Zach, Gabrielle, Tori, John, Christian, Jacob, Hannah, Ben, Isabella, Zeke, Emma, and Sarah, as well as 5 (6 later this summer) great-grandchildren, who all adored him back.
John’s beautiful life will come full circle as he will be returning to his beloved Texas to be laid to rest in his hometown.
A military honors graveside service will be held at 11am, Wednesday, April 22, 2026, at Oaklawn Memorial Park in Center, Texas.
