Merrell Preston Windham, 98, of Center, passed away on Friday, April 3, 2026, in Center.
Funeral service will be held at 4:00 p.m., Saturday, April 11, 2026, at Watson & Sons Funeral Home in Center. Visitation will be held from 6pm to 8pm, Friday, April 10, 2026, at Watson & Sons Funeral Home. Interment will be at Sholar Cemetery in Joaquin. Bro. Brandon Jones will be officiating.
Merrell Preston Windham was born January 12, 1928, in Shelby County, Texas. He was born to Lucius Lonnie Windham and Velma Carol McGee Windham.
He is survived by:
Daughter, Lucretia Johnson and husband Roy of Campbell, Texas
Son, Michael Ledean Windham and wife Jennifer of Center
Daughter-in-law, Rhonda Windham of Dayton, Texas
Grandsons:
Royce and wife Melissa
Joe and wife Jennifer
Justin
Granddaughter, Miranda and husband Stephen Watson
8 great-grandchildren
5 great-great-grandchildren
Stephen Griffin and Preston would always call him his adopted youngin.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Jimmie Marcelle Risinger Windham; his parents, Lucius and Velma Windham; son, Marcia Lamerel Windham; grandson, Johnny Windham; granddaughters, Misty, Michele, and Christina Windham; daughter-in-law, Sharon Windham; and his 3 brothers and their wives.
