August 6, 2026 - Governor Greg Abbott today announced $3,307,000 in Funds for Veterans’ Assistance (FVA) grants have been awarded to 13 organizations in the East Texas region as part of the Texas Veterans Commission (TVC) Grants Across Texas Tour. Administered by TVC, the funding will provide services to an estimated more than 1,900 local veterans.

July 14, 2026 - Governor Greg Abbott today, July 14, 2026, announced 15 grants totaling more than $4.7 million to Texas public community colleges and technical schools. The grants, administered by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB), support educational programs that lead to in-demand, high-earning occupations.

June 13, 2026 — Governor Greg Abbott today announced the launch of a free online course to expand the number of certified New World Screwworm (NWS) inspectors across Texas. This course will allow more Texans to inspect their animals and certify the documentation required to safely move them, which is critical to ensuring cattle and livestock commerce continues uninterrupted.

May 15, 2026 – Governor Greg Abbott today announced nine Jobs and Education for Texans (JET) grants totaling $2,524,300 have been awarded to nine schools in East Texas by the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC). The JET grants will support career and technical education (CTE) training programs by helping the schools purchase and install equipment to initially train 700 students for high-demand occupations such as automotive service technicians, registered nurses, HVAC mechanics and installers, and more.

April 14, 2026 — Governor Greg Abbott today encouraged Texas water entities to apply for over $1 billion in grants through the Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) Water Supply and Infrastructure Grant opportunity (WSIG) to further improve Texas' water supply and update Texas' water infrastructure.
