State Queen Clinic November 21 – 22, 2020
November 20, 2020 - Every year the Miss THSRA program sponsors a rodeo Queen clinic to help girls of all ages learn the ins and outs of being a rodeo Queen. In years past, the clinic has been held in Waco, College Station and Mesquite. This year the High Roller Group has graciously allowed the clinic to be held at their arena here in Center. It’s a fitting location as the THSRA State Secretary, Susan Thompson Baldwin, State Queen Coordinator Ann Blackwell, and the State Student Secretary, Abi DePriest are all from right here in Shelby County.
The clinic covers all categories of a rodeo queen contest in great detail with hands on practice and demonstration. It covers everything from modeling, appearance and personal interview to public speaking and horsemanship. A full half day will be devoted strictly to horsemanship on horseback.
Presenters for the clinic are Queen Coordinator, Ann Blackwell; Joanna Blackwell Huckabee, former THSRA/NHSRA Queen; Chloe Costello, former THSRA/NHSRA Queen; Ms. Codi Cowdin Ward, former Miss THSRA; reigning 2020 Miss THSRA/NHSRA Laramie Dearing; Ms. Caren Gray, Speech Coach; Ms. Judy Gill, past Miss Rodeo America Board President; Caroline Corbell, hair/makeup stylist; and Ms. Tonia Crump Epperson, basic horsemanship. The wealth of knowledge among these incredible women will make for a clinic that any aspiring rodeo Queen will not want to miss!
For more information or to request a registration packet, contact Ann Blackwell, THSRA Queen Coordinator at tablackwell@yahoo.com or phone/text 936-590-1855. The clinic is open to girls of any age or experience level. You do not have to bring a horse to attend the clinic.
