October 11, 2023 (More Photos) - The Shelbyville High School Chemistry class taught by Brooke Harrison performed a magic show Friday morning, October 6th at the 47th Annual East Texas Poultry Festival under the big tent.

Students entertained and ‘wow’ed the audience with explosive chemical reactions, flame throwing, and a rainbow of foam. Students presented each experiment with a little story or explanation to add to the overall fun.

October 11, 2023 - Shelby County Outreach Ministries (SCOM) wants to congratulate “Our Champion,” Bryan Bolton for doing such a great job in this year’s Chicken Trot 5K Race. He came in 3rd place in his division. Bryan has a wonderful servant’s heart and is always ready to help someone.

All of us at Shelby County Outreach Ministries are so proud of you, Bryan! You are our champion!

October 9, 2023 - The Excelsior ISD Choir lead by Tim Verner performed on the Frances Oates Stage on Friday, October 6 at the 2023 East Texas Poultry Festival. Songs presented to the large crowd under the big tent were ‘America the Beautiful,’ ‘Do-Re-Mi’ and ‘Edelweiss’ from The Sound of Music, ‘A Spoonful Of Sugar’ from Mary Poppins, and 'You're a Grand Old Flag.' October 9, 2023 - (Photo Album) - The Shelby County 4-H Heart to Hands Project, Scrap Happy Quilters and the Shelby Sewcial Bee presented 15 veterans with quilts during East Texas Poultry Festival activities under the big tent on Thursday, October 5, 2023, during their Quilts of Valor presentation. 

Presenting the quilts were Feleshia Thompson, Shelby County Extension Agent, and Shelby Sewcial Bee representative, Michele Clark. Each veteran was introduced and presented with a ceremonial quilts. Each of the quilts the veterans would later take home were on display during the festival at the First Baptist Church Family Life Center.


 

Each honoree was then announced and their service was recognized. As the ceremonial quilt was placed on their shoulders, they were welcomed home and thanked for their service.
