October 7, 2026 - (Broiler Show Photos, Broiler Sale Photos) - The 2026 East Texas Poultry Festival Broiler Show kicked off the day at the Shelby County Expo Center, bringing together 60 Shelby County 4-H and FFA exhibitors who proudly showcased their broiler projects. Of the pens exhibited, 40 qualified to sell at the evening auction.
We would like to extend a special thank you to this year’s judge, Daniel De’Leon, for taking the time to evaluate the exhibitors’ projects. Mr. De’Leon also spent time visiting with several exhibitors and sharing valuable tips and advice on how to raise and grow an outstanding broiler.
The 2026 East Texas Poultry Festival Broiler Sale began at 7pm under the big tent on the square. Thanks to the tremendous support of local businesses, organizations, families, and community members, a total of $186,249 was raised for Shelby County 4-H and FFA youth!
The Grand Champion Pen of Broilers was exhibited by Baylin Phelps of Shelbyville FFA and purchased by J.C. Lewis for $14,000.00.
The Reserve Grand Champion Pen of Broilers was exhibited by Taegan Dawson of Shelby County 4-H and purchased by Sand Hill Wrecker and Covington Lumber for $8,000.00.

Carter Bell, a senior at Shelbyville High School, will receive a $500 scholarship from Shelby Savings Bank for being the highest-placing senior exhibitor with his pen of broilers. The scholarship will be presented during Shelbyville’s awards ceremony.
