Returns to Shelby County June 8–12, 2026
May 13, 2026 - Shelby County 4-H is stitching creativity, history, and community pride together this summer with Sew Frenzy, a hands-on youth textile and sewing camp scheduled for June 8–12, 2026 at the Shelby County Extension Office.
Designed for youth interested in learning the basics of sewing and textile arts, Sew Frenzy will provide participants with practical skills while encouraging creativity, problem- solving, and self-expression. Campers will learn sewing machine safety and operation, fabric selection, basic construction techniques, and complete meaningful projects they can proudly share.
During the week-long camp, participants will create special handmade items to support the local 4-H America 250 Celebration, honoring America’s upcoming 250th anniversary. In addition, all campers will make a quilt to enter in the Shelby County Poultry Festival Quilt Show, showcasing their individual work, craftsmanship, and newly developed sewing skills. “Sew Frenzy offers youth an opportunity to learn sewing while giving back to their community and celebrating our history,” said Feleshia Thompson, Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service – Shelby County. “This camp combines creativity with teamwork and tradition, helping youth see how their skills can make an impact.”
The camp is open to youth ages 8–18 and is part of the Shelby County 4-H Youth Development program. No prior sewing experience is required, making the camp ideal for beginners as well as youth looking to strengthen existing skills.
Space is limited and pre-registration is required.
