April 27, 2026 - At 10:05am on Sunday, April 26th, the Joaquin Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched to a house fire at 102 Park Street, just off of the Highway 84 overpass. Per the automatic mutual aid agreement between the two departments, DeSoto Fire District #1 responded immediately as well, bringing an engine and a tanker. Both departments arrived on scene within 5 minutes of the dispatch and were able to initiate an aggressive interior attack. Two Shelby County Sheriff’s Deputies responded as well.
The fire was brought under control by 10:20am, but the unoccupied home did sustain heavy fire and smoke damage. After thorough salvage and overhaul operations, fire units cleared the scene and returned to their respective stations at 11:50am.
