September 16, 2026 - The Shelby County Chamber of Commerce would like to inform residents, business owners and visitors that the entire Downtown Center Square will be closed to all vehicle traffic during the 50th Annual East Texas Poultry Festival to ensure the safety of festival attendees and accommodate scheduled activities and events. The Festival is October 1st, 2nd and 3rd.
The roadways surrounding the square that will be closed include:
- Austin Street
- Shelbyville Street
- San Augustine Street
- Nacogdoches Street
No through traffic will be permitted on any side of the downtown square during festival operations. However, motorists traveling toward the square will be able to access nearby side streets prior to reaching closure points. Drivers should utilize alternate routes such as Pecan Street, Tenaha Street, Church Street and other adjacent roadways to navigate around the festival area.
Businesses requiring local deliveries including Mr. Doggo, Margaritas and East Texas Awards and Engraving, should direct all delivery traffic to utilize Banks Street for access during the closure.
The Chamber appreciates the patience and cooperation of residents, businesses, and visitors as we celebrate this historic milestone. The 50th Annual East Texas Poultry Festival promises to be a memorable event filled with entertainment, community activities and family friendly fun.
Visitors are encouraged to follow all posted traffic control devices, detour signs and directions from law enforcement officers and event personnel. Please use caution when traveling near the festival grounds, as pedestrian traffic will be significantly increased throughout the event.
