April 28, 2026 - The smell of slow-smoked brisket is about to become a staple in Tenaha, Texas as Beaner’s BBQ officially open its doors at 118 N. Bowers Street.

Please join Shelby County Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors and Jody and Juan Garza, owners of Beaner’s BBQ, at a New Business Ribbon Cutting on Monday, May 18th at 11am. The community is invited to attend, to celebrate, meet the team and sample delicious food.

April 22, 2026 - Cook teams from Texas and Louisiana will be competing for prize money this weekend at the Annual Grill Fest Presented by Farmers State Bank at the Windham Civic Center. Cooking starts Friday evening along with the 42 Tournament and Washer Pitching Tournament. Friday night is also Karaoke Night 8-10pm. The Margarita and “Open” Food Competition will be held Friday night 7:00 and 7:30 respectively.

Judging takes place on Saturday starting with the Bloody Mary competition at 10am. There is still time to enter!

April 20, 2026 - Start getting ready for the 42 Tournament and the Washer Pitching Tournament this Friday, both Sponsored by Shelby Savings Bank.

The two events will be held on Friday evening, April 24th as a part of the Grill Fest weekend. Registration for the 42 Tournament begins at 5:30pm and the Tournament begins at 6pm. Registration fee is $10 per person/$20 per team. Winning team takes the jackpot prize.

The Washer Pitching Tournament will begin at 7pm. It is $10 per person to participate and the winning team takes the jackpot prize.

April 13, 2026 - Join the Fun at Grill Fest - April 24th and 25th. In addition to sampling great barbeque you can participate in the 42 Tournament and the Washer Pitching Tournament, both sponsored by Shelby Savings Bank.

March 26, 2026 - The Shelby County Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors invite the community to celebrate the Grand Opening of the Climate Closet, the newest climate controlled storage facility, with a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony on Wednesday, April 8th at 11am.

Climate Closet is conveniently located on the loop and features climate controlled units, security camera monitoring, keypad entry and a spacious parking lot. There are 56 storage units ranging in size from 8x8 to 15x12, including 10x15 and 10x20 walk through units.
