September 10, 2026 - September is National Library Card Sign-up Month. Since 1987, the American Library Association has used this month to remind the public how important libraries are. For families, students, and communities, having a library card is the single most valuable free resource in this country.
The community library is a free, relaxing, safe space where you can rest, read, research, and renew your mind. You don’t have to buy anything. There is no yearly membership fee. It is one of the last places you can just be you, free of charge.
A free library card is one of the highest-value, zero-cost tools a community can offer. With a Fannie Brown Booth Library card, you can borrow books, even large print titles, DVDs, and more without paying a cent.
Our library provides free access to e-books, e-audiobooks, online learning platforms, language apps, genealogy databases, and research tools.
Many residents in our community do not have access to computers, printers, or the internet. At the library, you can freely use public computers, printers, Wi-Fi, and sometimes hotspots when available. This is essential for job applications, schoolwork, telehealth, and staying connected.
The library offers printing, faxing, and email scanning for a small fee. No card needed for this.
The Fannie Brown Booth Library offers Storytime, crafts programs, summer reading activities, and other special events, all free. It’s a gateway for lifelong learning and community connection. You do not even need a card.
A library card also saves families money by letting them borrow books instead of buying them. Using your card also strengthens library statistics, helping secure funding, grants, and future services.
