November 26, 2018 - According to Kevin Jones, Center Motor Company is offering a $1,000 reward leading to the arrest and indictment of individuals who entered Center Motor Company and stole tools and small equipment between 6pm Tuesday, November 20 and 7am Friday, November 23, 2018.
If you have information regarding this crime, please contact the Center Police Department at 936-598-2788. Detective Bobby Walker is handling the investigation.
Center Motor Company is located on Hurst Street in Center next to Wal-Mart and McDonald's restaurant.
November 26, 2018 - Tis the season of giving and many of the kids attending the showing of "The Grinch" at the RIO Theatre on Friday night received an early Christmas gift thanks to the generosity of Old Salem Missionary Baptist Church.
November 23, 2018 - Operation Blue Santa drew on Thanksgiving Day and announced the winner of the Savage Trophy Hunter 6.5 Creedmoor with Nikon Scope to be Billy Neal of Center. Proceeds from the raffle go to Operation Blue Santa and delivering toys to kids for Christmas.
November 6, 2018 - Shelby County had a good voter turnout for the November 6th midterm elections with 69% of the registered voters expressing their opinions at the polls. A record 53% of the total ballots cast were done during Early Voting and 47% were cast on election day.
City of Center final voting results are in and incumbent Jerry Lathan wins Council Member, District 2 with 126 votes to Rogers Yarborough's 68 votes.
October 22, 2018 - An election for the City of Center was ordered to be held on November 6, 2018 from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM for the purpose of electing the following officers:
District II - Council Member (Rogers Yarborough and Jerry G. Lathan)
District IV - Council Member (Randy Collard - Unopposed)
At-Large - Council Member (Leigh Porterfield - Unopposed)
At-Large - Council Memberd (Terry Scull - Unopposed)
November 2, 2018 - On October 23rd a Community Caregivers Support Group was started and is seeking input from caregivers in the area. The group is wanting to put together a variety of lunch and learn programs which will provide information beneficial to those providing care for loved ones. The focus is adult care-giving and helping with challenges caregivers face.
October 24, 2018 - Dave Campbell's Texas Football School of the Week presented by U.S. Army selected Shelbyville as the 2A school of the week for Week 8.
In the announcement, Shelbyville is described as follows: In a wild back-and-forth affair, the Dragons got six total touchdowns from QB Jaylon Brinson and held of a West Sabine in overtime, 44-42.
