Update: January 14, 2016 - According to Texas Department of Public Safety State Trooper - Public Information Officer - David Hendry, the Texas Rangers have completed their investigation into the death of the inmate at the Center Police Department. Hendry stated the Rangers have determined the death to have been suicide and the inmate was Sammie Smith, 39, of Logansport.
December 29, 2015 - Three people involved in a single-vehicle crash were transported to the hospital on Saturday, December 26, 2015. Emergency personnel from Timpson were dispatched as well as Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) State Troopers.

December 28, 2015 - The Shelby County Commissioners' Court voted to remove the gun restriction signs on the courthouse at their meeting held Monday, December 28, 2015 and to comply with current changes to state gun carrying laws.
December 22, 2015 - Texas Department of Public Safety State Troopers were investigating crashes during thick fog in Shelby County on Tuesday, December 22, 2015.
The first incident reported was on FM 2694 at 7:30am when, according to Texas DPS State Trooper Taylor Buster, a black Dodge pickup truck driven by Justin Nutter, 17, of Shelbyville was traveling east and fell asleep. The Dodge left the roadway to the right and struck a driveway culvert, causing the truck to go airborne. The Dodge then came to rest on the right side of the road facing west.
