September 16, 2021 - The Shelby County Attorney's Office has negotiated a settlement September 16, 2021, involving the alleged illegal gambling activities uncovered by Shelby County Constables on September 5, 2021.
September 15, 2021 - Shelby County Commissioners approved a budget and tax rate for the 2021-2022 Fiscal Year during a budget workshop held September 8, 2021.
County Judge Allison Harbison explained the total tax rate will be $0.7227, with the county tax rate being $0.6432, and the road and bridge tax rate being $0.0795 for a two cent increase in the total tax rate.
A motion carried to adopt the proposed budget with nine budget amendments and changes as listed by Commissioner Roscoe McSwain to become effective October 1, 2021.
September 15, 2021 - The Shelby County Commissioners agreed to establish an inter-local agreement with Harrison County for inmate housing during their meeting held September 8, 2021.
County Judge Allison Harbison made attempts on the day previous to the meeting to help clear out the inmates from the jail who didn't need to remain there; however, the capacity is still high.
September 14, 2021 - Per Sheriff Kevin W. Windham, effective Immediately all inmate visitation has been suspended at the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office until further notice.
Cash will no longer be accepted to deposit on an inmate’s books for commissary purchases. If you wish to leave money in the drop box, you will need to bring in a money order or cashier’s check made out to the inmate. Please make sure that you tear off the receipt and keep for your records.
September 7, 2021 - The Shelby County Commissioners approved the receipt of a donation of two storage buildings during their meeting September 1, 2021, for radio antenna equipment.
