January 18, 2022 - State Highway 87 North five miles from Center in the Mt. Gillion Community was the scene of back-to-back crashes Monday, January 17, 2022.
The first of the two crashes involved a pickup truck and a passenger car as the pickup truck was preparing to turn into a driveway.
January 14, 2022 - The Shelby County Commissioners approved the sale of several gaming machines January 5, 2022, which were seized during a raid of a fuel station and house on September 5, 2021.
Shelby County constables, assisted by other agencies, located the machines during the raids and eventually an agreement with the former owners attorney and Gary Rholes, Shelby County Attorney, resulted in an order from LeAnn Rafferty, 123rd Judicial District Judge, authorizing the machines to be relinquished to the county along with several thousand dollars which were recovered.
January 9, 2022 - The Center Fire Department responded to a house fire Friday, January 7, 2022, at 9am following reports of smoke emanating from a residence on Matlock Street in Center.
January 5, 2021 - Hurst Street in Center was the scene of a major two-vehicle collision Wednesday, January 5, 2022, at the entrance to McDonalds and Walmart.
Following the collision, both vehicles were left disabled and off the roadway one in a ditch and the other on a hill.
January 4, 2021 - The Center Fire Department fought a house fire Sunday, January 2, 2021 at a residence off CR 3012 located behind some chicken houses at 11:09am.
December 30, 2021 - A Shelby County Grand Jury handed down 16 indictments on Wednesday, November 17, 2021. The grand jury was impaneled for the July 2021 term of the 123rd Judicial District Court, and grand jury was held in both the 123rd and 273rd Judicial District courts.
Justin Earl Bennett was indicted for murder, first degree felony. The indictment alleges, on August 21, 2021, Bennett intentionally or knowingly caused the death of Deon Bailey by shooting him with a gun in the head and thigh.
