November 14, 2016 – The Panola College men’s basketball team went 1-2 this weekend in the Midland Classic hosted by Midland College. After this weekend’s play Panola’s record is 3-2. “We hit about as much as adversity as you can in a three day span.” Stated Head Coach Grant McMillan. “Playing three high quality opponents this early in the year will only help us when we get into league play.” He added.
November 14, 2016 - Last year, the Fillies and the Cougars went head to head at the start of the season, and the Fillies came out on top by only two points in the victory, 90-88.
Tonights match up was no close call for the Fillies, as they dominated the cougars 78-52.
PC, now 3-0 on the start of the season, ignited the game on an 11-0 run. They never slowed down after that and finished the opening quarter 21-8.
The Fillies would go on to shoot 44% from the field and 76% from the free throw line.
November 11, 2016 - The Panola College Choral Department hosted Region 3 Texas Two Year College All State Choral Auditions on Friday, November 4, 2016 in the Raymond Rhea Fine Arts Building. Eight Panola College students, the maximum number allowed per school by the organization, earned a chair in the All State Choir.
November 8, 2016 - The Panola College men’s basketball team defeated Houston Community College here Monday night, 102-43. With the victory, the Ponies raise their record to 2-0. “I thought we had much better rhythm tonight. Our guys stayed engaged on the defensive end. We will have to raise our level this weekend for the Midland Classic.” Stated Head Coach Grant McMillan.
November 7, 2016 - For the first time since 2009, the Panola College Fillies are headed back to the NJCAA National Tournament. PC punched their ticket by taking down Lee College, 15th ranked Wharton County, and #14 San Jacinto College.
November 7, 2016 - The Panola College men’s basketball team defeated Louisiana Christian, 105-88 Saturday night. The Ponies begin the season 1-0. “It was good to finally get to play a real game.” Stated Head Coach Grant McMillan. “It was a total team effort. There are a lot of positives and along with some negatives we can take away from the game. We have to build as a group and get better.” He added.
October 31, 2016 - The Panola College Ponies traveled to Lake Charles, La this last weekend for the Southern Region Rodeo hosted by McNeese State University. Barton Coliseum was full of great rodeo action and Panola rough stock riders made a good showing.
October 31, 2016 - The Panola College Fillies ended the regular season with a bang beating Wharton County in 4 sets (24-26, 25-22, 26-24, 25-22).
Freshman middle blocker Barbara Sabino led the offense pounding out a career high 20 kills on 29 total swings. Sophomore middle blocker Rachel Henderson followed up with 13 kills and sophomore outside Victoria Baptista chipped in 10 of her own. The trio also led in blocks with 7 from Sabino, 4 from Henderson, and Baptista picking up 3.
October 31, 2016 - The Panola College men’s basketball team begins their 2016-17 campaign when they tip off the season against Louisiana Christian this upcoming Saturday. Tip-off is set for 5:00 PM in Arthur Johnson Gymnasium at Panola College. Second year Head Coach Grant McMillan is ready to build off their record breaking season last year. McMillan led the Ponies to the most wins in school history posting 24 victories and guided them to their third ever conference championship game appearance. Last year’s squad featured four division one signees.
