March 30, 2026 - Good Morning! It’s Monday, March 30. I hope you had a wonderful and blessed Palm Sunday. Now we begin Holy Week, or as some call it, Passion Week - the days that lead to Easter. Each of these days has something to teach us. Let’s take a look at Monday, the Monday that occurred some 2000 years ago.

After the palm procession into Jerusalem, Jesus and his disciples spent Sunday night in Bethany, two miles east of the Holy City. They rested in the home of good friends Mary, Martha, and Lazarus. But on that Monday morning, they were back in Jerusalem, and they found themselves in the Temple.

The first temple was built by King Solomon in 950 B.C. and was destroyed by the Babylonians 500 years later. The Babylonian exiles rebuilt it when they returned home, and then, 20 years before Bethlehem, King Herod added to that structure. At the time of Christ, it was known as Herod’s Temple.

When Jesus walked in that Monday morning, He was not pleased with what he witnessed. During the Passover festival, Jews from around the civilized world traveled to Jerusalem, came to the Temple. But before they could purchase a sacrifice, their foreign money had to be changed. The “money changers” were notorious for cheating the people, for creating a “den of thieves”. Christ angrily drove out these evil men and overturned their tables.

Anger is often thought of as a sin, but Jesus exhibits a righteous anger that can be a tool to accomplish God’s will.

However, when we take a stand for God, there is often a price to be paid. On that Monday morning in Herod’s Temple, Christ caught the eye of the priests and the scribes and the Pharisees.

And a step was taken toward the Cross.

March 27, 2026 - There is an interesting incident in the life of Jesus recorded in Mark chapter 14. Jesus was the guest of honor in the house of Simon the leper. While having dinner, a woman came with a box of precious ointment and broke the box and poured the ointment on the head of Jesus.

Well, almost immediately, the “naysayers” and the “faultfinders” began to criticize this wasteful act. Mark tells us some said the ointment could have been sold and the money given to the poor. He also tells us they murmured against her. Yet, in the face of this biting criticism, Jesus commended her and told them to leave her alone because she had done what she could.

The story suggests to us that Christianity is a religion of doing things. It is not something one gets but something one does. Jesus went on to tell them that wherever the gospel would be preached, what she had done would be spoken of as a memorial to her.

From this story, we learn that each of us has a responsibility in the Lord’s Kingdom to “do what we can”. God wants us to do what we can and our responsibility is equal to our ability. The greatest need in the church is not eloquence, education or wealth. The greatest need is the spirit that will cause each person to do what they can. Are you doing your part in the service of the Lord?

It’s something to think about... tbp

March 23, 2026 - Good Morning! It’s Monday, March 23.

I live right next to a farm. The sounds of mooing and gobbling and neighing and clucking are the background to my life now. Plus, many of these critters seem to end up on my property on a fairly regular basis. We have frequent visits from goats and turkeys and cows and pigs and chickens, not to mention neighbor’s dogs and cats. A couple of days ago I was walking to my mailbox when I suddenly came eye-to-eye with a bull - a full grown, big horned, rodeo riding, two thousand pound BULL! I quickly decided that my mail could wait till later and retreated to the relative safety of my front porch. It was a show.

Three little hens have been daily visitors for a while now. I made the mistake of feeding them - ONCE - and now I’m on their regular route. A couple of weeks ago one of the hens brought some friends with her - eleven baby chicks. Adorable. Then last week we had a cold snap. I came out on my porch to a frosty morning and was surprised to see the mother hen sitting in my yard. But she was alone - no chicks. I figured it was too cold and that she had left them back at the henhouse. About that time she suddenly stood up, and all eleven babies crawled out from under her! It was a perfect picture of a mother’s love.

And it reminded me of a scripture verse that’s a perfect picture of a Father’s love. Perhaps the psalm writer had a scene in mind just like the one I witnessed on that cold spring morning last week, when he wrote - “He will cover you with His feathers, and under His wings you will find refuge and protection”. Psalm 91:4
