July 9, 2026 - During the “Golden Age of Radio” there was a popular program known as “The Shadow.” The opening catchphrase was spoken by a booming, eerie voice saying, “Who knows what evil lurks in the hearts of men, the Shadow knows.” Well, when you think about it, the one who really knows the deepest secrets and longing of our hearts is God. He knows everything about us.
You see, the heart houses secrets that we will never see nor know and people are good at covering up their feelings. Smiling faces often disguise hearts that are about to break in two. Often just when we think we have someone figured out, we discover just how much has been hidden from us. Behind so many smiling, happy and joyous faces is often a life being lived in pain beyond belief.
To be sure, stories of hidden heartbreak are legion. In our world today, we are surrounded with superficial talk and causal relationships. We must remember that a smile does not necessarily mean “I’m happy” and the polite answer of “I’m fine” may not always be the truth.
However, there is someone who knows the depths of our heart. God and God alone knows. He sympathizes with our weaknesses. He knows our joys and he knows our sorrows. He knows our victories and he knows our struggles. He understands our heartaches and loves us through it all. For those living their lives within his will, he is the God of all comfort.

July 6, 2026 - Good Morning! It’s Monday, July 6.
On July 6, 1785, Congress unanimously voted that the official legal tender of the United States would be the dollar. And Americans have been chasing after the dollar ever since! Don’t forget what the Bible says, “Money is the root of all evil”.
But wait! That’s one of those scripture verses that’s often misquoted. What I Timothy 6:10 actually says is, “The LOVE of money is the root of all evil”. And so, in that context, money is no different than anything - power, position, pleasure - that we’re tempted to put ahead of God in our lives. Anything that we give a higher priority to than Him can lead us down the road to evil.
That said, the Bible does give special warnings about wealth. Jesus famously (and humorously) said, “It is easier for a camel to get through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of heaven”.
So, if God has blessed you financially, give Him the glory, give back to Him to bless His kingdom, and guard your priorities.
Meet you back here tomorrow,
David

July 2, 2026 - Have you ever walked through a cemetery and taken the time to look, really look at the tombstones there? It is often quite interesting to walk among the old tombstones and see the epitaphs that have been written by men.
Often, in older cemeteries you will find some very ornate tombstones and monuments. Perhaps it has been erected in honor of a child taken far too soon from his or her parents. It might be a man or woman taken in the springtime of life. Then again, it might be an aged father or mother, respected and honored. You see a name and you find some verse of hope on that tombstone or monument.
Today, you usually find only the name and the dates. You see the year they were born and the year they died and there is a small dash in between. The dash is what we do between the time we are born and the time we die. That’s what is most important. You see the dash is critical because it is your identity. It is who you are, husband, wife, mom, dad, teacher. The dash is your influence, how you touch the lives of others.
The dash is your legacy. It is what you leave behind to future generations. When your life is over, when the pale horse and his rider cross your threshold, when your love ones erect a monument to you in some cemetery, what will your dash represent?
