May 6, 2021 - A Timpson man has been arrested on drug and firearms violations following the discovery of illegal narcotics and stolen firearms.
Shelby County Constables, assisted by Sheriff's Department and Texas Department of Public Safety personnel initiated a warrant at a residence on Prairie Street in Timpson Thursday, May 6, 2021.
According to Josh Tipton, Constable Precinct 5, he has had infomation on the residence where the arrest took place, through investigation and complaints from Timpson citizens.
Tipton requested the assistance of other agencies including Constable Precinct 4 Taylor Fanguy, Constable Precinct 3 Roy Cheatwood, Sheriff's Deputies and DPS. After speaking with the homeowner, written consent from the homeowner was acquired to search the home.
During the search a significant amount of methamphetamine, pipes, needles, several plastic baggies used for distribution, and a stolen gun out of Angelina County were located.
Clayton Russell, Jr., 33, of Timpson was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance, felony 3; and possession of a stolen firearm, state jail felony.
"I've got several complaints from it up here, and it was just time to do something," said Constable Tipton.
Constable Tipton expressed appreciation to all of the agencies who assisted in the arrest.
May 5, 2021 - Center Police Officers responded to an assault at residence on Terry Street around 10am on Monday, May 3, 2021.
Ambulance personnel responded to the location to provide medical assistance to the victim.
An individual was taken into custody and transported to the Center Police Department. Officers were seen investigating in and around the residence following the incident.
According to the Center Police Department jail log Brandon D. Roberts, 28, of Center was booked into the Center Police Department jail at 11am May 3, 2021 and he has been charged with aggravated sexual assault, felony 2; burglary of a habitation intent sexual offense, felony 2; and tamper/fabricate physical evidence, felony 3.
Texas Department of Public Safety records indicate Roberts was paroled on April 8, 2021 for a parole period to last until October 8, 2028.

May 4, 2021 - Last night, Constable Precinct 4 Taylor Fanguy and Constable Precinct 5 Josh Tipton recovered a stolen ATV in the northern part of Shelby County.
Constable Tipton received an anonymous tip late last night of an ATV located down in a ravine near railroad tracks. The constables located the ATV, a Honda Pioneer 1000 Limited Edition, and using the vehicle identification number on the unit were able to identify the owner.
Once making contact with the owner who was unaware it had been taken, they secured the ATV and a wrecker service was called to retrieve it. The stolen property was then transported to a secure location for evidence processing.
May 4, 2021 - Trees are down in Center, May 4, 2021, following a storm which is currently over Shelby County as of 12:30pm.
A tree is blocking the northbound traffic lanes of State Highway 7 West (Nacogdoches Highway) near the Principe De Paz church.
A tree is also blocking lanes of traffic on FM 699 two miles from FM 1656.
May 4, 2021 - Severe Thunderstorm Watch 142 is in effect until 1pm for the following locations.

May 3, 2021 - City of Joaquin held an election on May 1, 2021 for the position of Mayor. Frank Cooper won with 54 votes against Krystal Raybon who had 36 votes.
Two unopposed Council Member positions were also listed on the ballot, Cathy Atkinson and Mike Cummings, Jr..

May 3, 2021 - The City of Tenaha held their city election for three council positions on Saturday, May 1, 2021.
New council members are Janice Barton, Bryan Adams, and O'Neal Jones.

May 3, 2021 - Tenaha ISD held their school board election on May 1, 2021 for 3 positions. Winning were Robert Barton, Cody Price, and Cicily Cross-Blair.
A total of 122 voters cast a ballot.
