August 1, 2018 - According to the Shelby County Sheriff's Department, Hill turned himself into the Dallas County Sheriff's Office July 31. Hill posted bond and was released the same day.
July 31, 2018 - The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office is actively seeking the whereabouts of Prince Earl Hill, 50, of Center.
Hill is described as a black male, 5’6”, 265 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. He is wanted by the Irving Police Department for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Felony 2.
Hill’s last known address was 386 Lakewood Drive in Center, Texas.
If you have any information regarding this individual, you are urged to contact the Shelby County Sheriff’s Department at 936-598-5601 or call 9-1-1 immediately.
If anyone is found to be hindering the apprehension, harboring or concealing, providing or aiding with any means of avoiding arrest or effecting escape, or warns Hill of impending discovery or apprehension, will be arrested and charged in accordance to Penal Code 38.05 Hindering Apprehension or Prosecution, a Felony 3 offense.

July 31, 2018 - The Center Fire Department responded to the aid of Timpson Volunteer Fire Department Tuesday, July 24, 4:45pm in regards to a hay meadow which had caught on fire.
The field was located just off State Highway 87 North near County Road 4012 and a large portion of the field was scorched by the fire. A hay baler on the location had burned. The fire departments worked together to extinguish remaining flames on the field and in nearby woods.
Firemen returned to the station at 5:15pm.
Public records indicate the property is owned by WM and Gloria Sprague.
July 31, 2018 - ADM Animal Nutrition, a division of Archer Daniels Midland Company (NYSE: ADM), is recalling 200-pound tubs of Mintrate® 36-15 Breed Right Tub cattle feed, product number 54549AAA6H, because the product may contain elevated levels of non-protein nitrogen, which could be harmful to cattle. Excessive levels of non-protein nitrogen can be toxic to cattle and can cause muscle tremors (especially of face and ears), abdominal pain, bloat, frothy salivation, excessive urination, teeth grinding, incoordination, weakness, shortness of breath and possible death.
There is one lot number involved in this recall: Lot # QE12918. The product was distributed between May 24, 2018, and June 29, 2018, and could have been purchased in Illinois, Nebraska, New Mexico and Texas.
ADM Animal Nutrition received a report from one customer claiming this feed may have resulted in death loss. The company immediately began investigating and initiated the recall upon receiving confirmation that the feed may contain elevated levels of non-protein nitrogen. ADM has been in direct contact with the customer and distributors involved in this recall, and all product has been removed from retail shelves.
The lot number, QE12918, can be found at the bottom of the label. Click heredisclaimer icon to view an image of the label. Customers who have purchased the recalled feed should immediately stop using it and return it to their distributor or directly to ADM Animal Nutrition for a full refund. July 31, 2018 - An investigation by Roy Cheatwood, Shelby County Precinct 3 Constable, into a questionable attempted use of a check at Quick Stop in Haslam resulted in the recovery of a stolen vehicle.
According to Constable Cheatwood, at around 9am Monday, July 30, 2018 he was alerted to the situation at Quick Stop and was advised that the subjects were in a possible stolen vehicle, a 2013 Dodge Challenger.
Upon making contact with the suspect vehicle and the suspects inside at Nuway convenience store, Constable Cheatwwod reports the Dodge fled into Louisiana at a high-rate of speed. Constable Cheatwood notified the Shelby County Sheriff's Department, as well as DeSoto Parish Sheriff's Department, as the car was heading into their area.
The suspects drove the Dodge into a neighborhood in Logansport where they reportedly ditched the vehicle and fled on foot. The vehicle was indeed determined to have recently been stolen by a group of juveniles in the Longview area.
Cheatwood expresses appreciation to all law enforcement involved in recovery of the Dodge including Shelby County Sheriff's Department, DeSoto Parish Sheriff's Department, and the Mt. Pleasant Police Department. He also commended the employees of Quick Stop for their immediate action in reporting the suspected check to law enforcement.
The vehicle was impounded by the DeSoto Parish Sheriff's Department, and is awaiting retrieval by the owner. This incident remains under investigation at this time.
July 27, 2018 - Speed limits in Tenaha, in Shelby County, are scheduled to be lowered following a recommendation from TxDOT and approval by Tenaha City Commissioners.
The speed limit on FM 2695 will be lowered to 45 miles per hour from 55 miles per hour from FM 947 to Loop 157.
A new school zone will also be added with a speed limit set at 25 miles per hour when lights are flashing from a point approximately .038 miles northeast of FM 947 to a point approximately .241 miles north-eastward. When lights are not activated, the speed limit will be 45 miles per hour in either direction.
These new speed limits will be enforceable once signs are set. Motorists should stay alert when traveling through a school zone. It is illegal to use a cell phone in a school zone or text and drive in Texas.

July 27, 2018 - State Highway 87 North at FM 1645 was the scene of a major two-vehicle crash Thursday, July 26, which has put one child in a hospital in Houston.
According to Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) State Trooper Taylor Buster, at 5pm, a grey 1998 International truck-tractor driven by Aubrey Dionyell Lacy, 37, of Center was traveling north on SH 87. A tan 2015 Jeep SUV driven by Sandra Zamarron, 23, of Tenaha reportedly disregarded the stop sign at the intersection of State Highway 87 and FM 1645 West and was struck by the truck-tractor.
No citations have been reported at this time. No injuries were reported of Lacy at the scene.
Zamarron had three child passenger age two, three and four. All were transported by ACE EMS to Nacogdoches Memorial Hospital for treatment.
Additional reports from Texas DPS indicate the four-year-old child is currently at Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston for treatment.
Center Fire Department directed traffic at the scene until it was clear. Trooper Buster was assisted with the investigation by Trooper Dustin Ramos.
July 26, 2018 - The Center Police Department responded to an unresponsive person on Sampson Street On July 5th at approximately 10:23 A.M. Upon arrival, Officers found Brakia Rashed Roland 27, of Center deceased.
Detectives were able to link Alvin Jerome Davis II, 26, of Center to the murder of the victim with forensic and physical evidence.
Detective Stephen Stroud presented the case to District Judge LeAnn Kay Rafferty, Judge Rafferty did issue two arrest warrants for Alvin Jerome Davis II for Capital murder and Aggravated Robbery.
This case is still under investigation.
Davis is currently being held at the Caddo Parrish Jail on unrelated Louisiana charges.

July 26, 2018 - As a result of the suspension of Jenny Hicks as Justice of the Peace for Precinct 4 in Shelby County, it was necessary for another individual to be placed in that position during the interim.
Per order of suspension by LeAnn K. Rafferty, 123rd Judicial District Judge, of Hicks and immediate placement of Jackie Kirkwood as acting Justice of the Peace to fulfill the duties of the office of Precinct 4, Hicks still retains the office; however, under suspension.
