October 14, 2026 - Joe Hudson, 1978 graduate of Timpson High School, will share "East Texas Railroad History of Timpson and Surrounding Area" with Timpson Area Genealogy and Heritage Society members and guests Wednesday, October 21, 2pm, in the Timpson Public Library annex. His presentation will include tidbits from Timpson's past as well as his family ties.

Joe's parents were Liam and Tommie Hancock Hudson. Carlos Hancock was his grandfather. Joe's sister, Sharon Samford, is retired from Timpson and Garrison schools. Another sister, Ginger Burgess, is a registered nurse. His wife, Becky, is a graduate of ULM, with a degree in  accounting. The couple have resided in Monroe, LA since the mid 1990s.

Joe attended Panola College after high school. He was still undecided on a major when an opportunity to join friends in working for the Railroad presented itself. From that point he never looked back, with a career spanning forty seven years, with thirty-seven actual full years of employment. He retired from Kansas City Southern in September of this year.
