2nd Annual East Texas Fire and Nature Festival

March 18, 2026 - The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, Tyler Nature Center and partners invite the public to learn about nature, and the importance and benefits of prescribed fire at the 2nd Annual East Texas Fire and Nature Festival on April 18.

The free festival will take place 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. Saturday, April 18 at the Tyler Nature Center, 11942, FM 848, Tyler, TX, 75704 and demonstrates the multiple benefits of prescribed fire and focuses on increasing public familiarity and understanding of its role in the ecology of the Pineywoods.

What is New for Hunting Season 2025-26

September 19, 2025 - The 2025-26 hunting season has kicked off with a great start to dove season for hunters across the state. However, hunters should be aware of changes before entering the field.

Expanded Digital License Options

Starting this season, hunters have new options for digital licenses. For the first time, Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) will offer fully digital license options for all recreational hunting, fishing and combo license and tag types, as explained in this new how-to video.

Boaters, Waterfowl Hunters Reminded to ‘Clean, Drain and Dry’ on Labor Day Weekend, Teal Season Opener

August 28, 2025 - As Texans get ready for Labor Day weekend and the opening of teal hunting season on Sept. 20, the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) urges boaters, paddlers and waterfowl hunters to do their part to protect Texas lakes from aquatic invasive species.
