November 16, 2015 - Center Garden Club members placed a wreath at the Blue Star Memorial Marker located on the Community House front terrace in celebration of Veterans' Day on November 11. Larry Hume, Shelby County Memorial Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8904, who served as US Air Force Chief Master Sergeant from 1961-81, spoke to members and guests about the importance of remembering our Veterans. Local Veteran Lee O. Stockton, special guest and husband of member Margaret Stockton, was recognized for his service during 1961-63 as US Army Spec. 5th Class.
November 16, 2015 - Janet Ritter, District Conservationist with the USDA-NRCS, was the guest speaker at the November 11 meeting of the Center Garden Club which met at the Community House in Center. She discussed Monarch Conservation which included migration, life cycle, food needs, host plants, and threats to monarchs.
October 15, 2015 - Scott Martin, President of the Pineywoods Beekeepers Association and a Master Beekeeper candidate, stressed the importance of bees in our environment in his program on "Beekeeping" to the Center Garden Club at their Oct. 14 meeting at the Community House in Center, Texas.
April 24, 2015 - Center Garden Club members Linda Bordelon, (shown with Incoming Texas Garden Clubs State President Carol Moore and Texas State President Sarah McReynolds), Carolyn Bounds, Alison Scull, Robbie Kerr, Judy Matthews, Jackie Hancock, Shirley Owens, and Cherry Jones attended the Youth Awards luncheon on Wednesday, April 22, at the 87th Texas Garden Clubs, Inc. Spring Convention in Tyler, Texas.

March 24, 2015 - Center Garden Club member Jackie Hancock was installed as the 2015-2017 Texas Garden Clubs District III Treasurer at the District III Spring Convention March 19-20 in Kilgore.
83 members representing garden clubs from the Southern, Central, and Northern Zones of District III learned about Texas native plants with a program "Grow Native: Embrace Nature's Original Vintage Garden." Zone Directors gave reports on activities, program, and projects for the past year. Awards were then announced.
January 28, 2015 - Center Garden Club members Linda Bordelon and Cherry Jones presented a "Backyard Habitat" program to 3rd grade Jr. Garden Club members at Center Elementary on Jan. 28.
Door prizes of bird houses and fruit/nut feeders were given so 4 Jr. members could begin their own backyard habitat. Litter bags filled with goodies donated by the Texas Dept. of Transportation and Sandy Wheeler's State Farm Insurance were given to the other members.
