October 17, 2025 - Shelby County co-hosted along with the Texas Association of Counties (TAC) a Judicial Education Roundtable meeting on Thursday, October 16, 2025 at the Courthouse. The roundtable discussion included mental health resources available as well as DWI case management and best practices. TAC also provided an update on new laws affecting counties which went into effect September 1 and those which will be effective January 1.

October 14, 2025 - All of the Shelby County fire departments were awarded funds today from the Texas A&M Forest Service through the Rural Volunteer Fire Department Assistance Program.
The Texas A&M Forest Service conducted the first Funding Meeting for Fiscal Year 2026 on October 14, 2025. During this meeting, approximately $164 million in grants was awarded
to Texas volunteer fire departments with $1,675,000 being awarded to local Shelby County fire departments for essential firefighting equipment.
