April 1, 2020 - The Shelby County Commissioners met April 1, 2020 and addressed several regular items for consideration. Allison Harbison, Shelby County Judge, stated before the meeting she had spoken with medical representatives in Nacogdoches who have indicated Shelby County would be getting a testing facility for COVID-19 and additional information is forthcoming.

March 29, 2020 - Altercations in Timpson and Tenaha developed into violent incidents Saturday afternoon, March 28 which left one individual injured involving a firearm in Timpson and another involving a knife in Tenaha.

March 25, 2020 - (Photos Courtesy WSCVFD) - The West Shelby County Volunteer Fire Department (WSCVFD) was dispatched to the scene of a single-vehicle crash Sunday, March 22, 2020.

March 23, 2020 - The USGS has reported a 2.5 magnitude earthquake in the Timpson area as of 1:52am Monday, March 23, 2020.

Recorded depth of the quake was 5 km, which is just over 3 miles and was detected within the vicinity of County Road 4916.

The earthquake with the greatest seismicity recorded yet in the Timpson area was a 4.8 magnitude earthquake on May 17, 2012.

March 21, 2020 – U.S. Highway 96 at County Road 1012 around seven miles south of Center was the scene of a major two-vehicle crash which resulted in the deaths of two people involved.
