April 3, 2023 - The Tenaha Police Department and Tenaha Volunteer Fire department were both dispatched to the U.S. Highway 59 North ramp in response to a single-vehicle crash.
March 31, 2023 - VFW Post 8904 and Auxiliary members gathered at the Shelby County Veterans Memorial March 29, 2023, in recognition of National Vietnam War Veterans Day.
An opening prayer was led by Kenneth Ramsey, Post Chaplain, and the program was led by Larry Hume, Post Quartermaster.
March 30, 2023 - A Shelby County Grand Jury handed down 29 indictments on Thursday, March 28, 2023. The grand jury was impaneled for the January 2023 term of the 123rd/273rd Judicial District Courts.
March 29, 2023 - The Shelby County Historical Commission presented the Shelby County Commissioners with a proposal to move forward on previously approved work during the March 15, 2023 meeting.
March 21, 2023 - Donna Hughes, Justice of the Peace for Precinct 1, addressed the Shelby County Commissioners' Court March 8, 2023, with a proposal for some needed refurbishment in the building where her office is located.
The floors are concrete in the building and without any covering, sound travels throughout the building. Hughes explained she has placed rugs on the floor in attempts to dampen the sound; however, there is very little privacy in her office or in the courtroom.
She presented a bid from Russell Flooring for carpeting in the building.
March 17, 2023 - Center Fire Department personnel responded to two house fires on Sunday, March 12, 2023, with one in the county and the other within the Center city limits.
March 12, 2023 - Shelby County Commissioners decided March 1, 2023, to move forward in assisting the Texas Department of Public Safety by supplying the funds for the purchase of a device to access a vehicle Event Data Recorder (EDR).
March 8, 2023 - The Shelby County Commissioners allowed during their February 22, 2023 meeting, for the Shelby County Jail to accept certain food donations.
Don Moore, Shelby County Jail Administrator, spoke with the Shelby County Commissioners about receiving food donations for the jail to help reduce costs. He reminded the commissioners he spoke with the in November 2022 about the rising cost of food and that he would be seeking ways to lower the expense.
