Portions of Shelby County Under Severe Thunderstorm Warning

March 4, 2020 - The National Weather Service in Shreveport has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Eastern Nacogdoches County in eastern Texas, Central Shelby County in eastern Texas, Central Angelina County in eastern Texas, Northern San Augustine County in eastern Texas until 5:15am CST.

At 4:34am CST, a severe thunderstorm was located near Huntington, or 11 miles east of Lufkin, moving northeast at 55 mph.

HAZARD: 60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail.

Shelby County Included in Flash Flood Watch

February 12, 2020 - The Flash Flood Watch continues for portions of Arkansas, Louisiana, southeast Oklahoma, and Texas, including the following areas, in Arkansas, Columbia, Hempstead, Howard, Lafayette, Little River, Miller, Nevada, Sevier, and Union. In Louisiana, Bienville, Bossier, Caddo, Claiborne, De Soto, Jackson, Lincoln, Ouachita, Red River, Union, and Webster. In southeast Oklahoma, McCurtain. In Texas, Bowie, Camp, Cass, Cherokee, Franklin, Gregg, Harrison, Marion, Morris, Nacogdoches, Panola, Red River, Rusk, Shelby, Smith, Titus, Upshur, and Wood.

Shelby County Under Tornado Warning

January 11, 2020 - The National Weather Service has issued a Tornado Warning as of 12:38am CST Saturday, January 11 2020.

The National Weather Service in Shreveport has issued a

Tornado Warning for East central Nacogdoches County in eastern Texas, Central Shelby County in eastern Texas, Northwestern San Augustine County in eastern Texas until 1:15am CST.

Shelby County Under Tornado Watch

January 10, 2020 - The National Weather Service has issued a Tornado Watch for Shelby County and surrounding areas. 
 
As of 5:30pm Tornado Watch 5 is in effect until 2am CST for the following locations:
Texas Counties included are:

Angelina, Bowie, Camp, Cass, Cherokee, Franklin, Gregg, Harrison, Marion, Morris, Nacogdoches, Panola, Red River, Rusk, San Augustine, Shelby, Smith, Titus, Upshur, Wood

Shelby County Included in Significant Weather Advisory

November 30, 2019 - Significant weather advisory for southeastern DeSoto west central Natchitoches and northern Sabine parishes southeastern Shelby and Northern Central Sabine counties until 3pm CST
 
At 2:14pm CST, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm 8 miles east of Patroon, or 23 miles southeast of Center, moving northeast at 50 mph. 

Penny size hail and wind gusts up to 50 mph will be possible with this storm. 

NWS Warns of Hail, Strong Wind; Severe Thunderstorm Warning Now Added (Update)

October 3, 2019 - (Update: 4:49pm) - The National Weather Service in Shreveport has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Northeastern Nacogdoches County in eastern Texas, Southwestern Shelby County in eastern Texas, Northwestern San Augustine County in eastern Texas until 5:30pm CDT.

At 4:42 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located 7 miles northeast of Martinsville, or 10 miles southwest of Center, moving west southwest at 20 mph.

Hazard: 60 mph wind gusts and penny size hail.

Significant Weather Advisory for Southwestern Shelby County

June 27, 2019 - Significant weather advisory for Southwestern Shelby County until 4:30pm

At 3:43pm CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm 9 miles southwest of Center, moving north at 10 mph. Pea size hail and winds in excess of 30 mph will be possible with this storm. Locations impacted include Jericho, Stockman and Arcadia.

Precautionary/Preparedness Actions
Heavy rainfall is also occurring with this storm, and may lead to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.
