Panola College Offers Zumba Gold

March 29, 2108 - Panola College/Shelby College Center is offering Zumba® Gold. This class takes the Zumba formula and modifies the moves and pacing to suit the needs of the older participant.

The class will meet Monday and Wednesday: April 9th – May 16th, from 4:00 – 5:00 pm, at the Shelby College Center. The cost of the class is $45, and pre-registration is required.

Panola College Inducts New Honor Society Members

March 27, 2018 - The Pi Beta Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa National Honor Society inducted new members on March 8 in a ceremony at Panola College. Amy Calhoun, professor of chemistry and a Pi Beta alumna, served as guest speaker.

M. P. Baker Library Hosts Bill O’Neal

March 27, 2018 - The M.P. Baker Library of Panola College will host Texas State Historian and author, Mr. Bill O’Neal, as he launches his two newest books, John Chisum-Frontier Cattle King and Frontier Forts of Texas. The book talk and signing will be held Monday, April 9th from 2:00 – 4:00 pm in the Murphy-Payne Community Room of the Library.

Panola Jazz Band, Pipers to Perform Sundaes and a Song

March 21, 2018 - The Panola Jazz Band and Pipers will perform on Tuesday, April 3 at 7:00 p.m. in the Frances B. Ross Ballroom of the Charles C. Matthews Foundation Student Center at Panola College. Audience members will be treated to pop, jazz, and rock-n-roll music as well as delicious ice cream sundaes. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and tickets will be sold at the door. Ticket prices are $10 for general admission and $5 for Panola faculty, students, and children under 10 years old.

Fillies Wrap Up Season at National Tournament

March 21, 2018 - The Fillies stepped on the National playing field representing Panola College in a positive way.

Tuesday morning the Fillies would match up against Northwest Florida. Early execution by the Raiders would give Panola a 5-0 deficit. The score wouldn’t last as Maryia Adashchyk would knock down a three from deep followed by a lay up by Daria Eremeeva.

The Fillies would get back to back stops in the second quarter, but couldn’t seem to click offensively. A poor shooting period led Panola onto break down 25-33.

Panola College Rodeo Team Regains Lead in the Southern Region Standings

March 12, 2018 - Panola College Rodeo team regained its lead in the Southern Region standings February 23-24 in Robstown, TX. The Texas A&M - Kingsville hosted rodeo proved to be very important for a lot of individuals fighting for their shot at qualifying for the CNFR. Panola Men Fall to San Jac in OT in Region 14 Quarterfinals

March 9, 2018 Jacksonville - The Panola College men’s basketball team fell to San Jacinto College here Thursday night in overtime, 90-82. The loss finishes Panola’s season with an overall record of 20-12. “We gave plenty of effort tonight. But we didn’t execute in vital times during the second half.” Head Coach Grant McMillan stated.

Panola Fillies Win First Round

March 7, 2018 - The Panola Fillies upend Bossier Paris CC 66-59 in the first round of the Region 14 Conference Tournament.

The Fillies of Panola got off to a slow start as they played the first game of the tournament in Jacksonville. Miscues, empty possessions, & turnovers were an Achilles heel for the Fillies most all of the first half. Despite the slow start, the Fillies went to the break up 1.

Panola Men Advance in the Region 14 Tournament, Upend Coastal Bend

March 7, 2018 Jacksonville, TX - The Panola College men’s basketball team defeated Coastal Bend College here Tuesday night, 95-83. The victory improves Panola’s overall record to 20-11 and puts them in the quarterfinals in the Region 14 conference tournament. The 20th win marks the third straight season with 20 or more wins in each of Head Coach Grant McMillan’s tenure, first time in school history. “We handle their punches and got in a good flow. It took us a while to close the game but we took care of business.” McMillan stated.
