March 22, 2019 Lufkin – With warmer weather and sunshine comes plenty of work on Lufkin District construction and maintenance projects. Many work zones include lane or shoulder closures or pilot cars to guide traffic through the work area.
“Motorists should remain patient and reduce their speed when they approach a work zone,” said Rhonda Oaks, public information officer for the district. “There is always moving equipment and many workers in the area. Motorists should stay alert and obey all signage for their own safety as well as for the safety of our workers.”
March 18, 2019 - Alert: An overturned wood chip truck has been reported on FM 83 West near Hemphill in Sabine County. Motorists should prepare for delays as this scene clears.

March 12, 2019 - As part of a statewide effort to raise awareness, increase vigilance and report signs of human trafficking, the Texas Department of Transportation, in partnership with the Office of the Governor, law enforcement and industry partners, is launching its “On the Road to End Human Trafficking” initiative.

February 1, 2019 Lufkin – Work schedules for the Lufkin District are full and crews will be working if weather permits next week.
“Weather is always a big part of whether we can fulfill our plans to work on our maintenance and construction projects,” said Rhonda Oaks, Lufkin District public information officer. “So we hope for the best and plan to be at our work sites throughout the week.”
December 4, 2018 - As a result of the recent passing of President George Hebert Walker Bush, Governor Greg Abbott has proclaimed Wednesday, December 5, 2018, as an official day of mourning for the state of Texas. TxDOT offices will be closed.
November 29, 2018 Lufkin – Texas Transportation Commissioners recently approved more than $402.1 million for new construction projects statewide, with nearly $14 million approved for the Lufkin District.
Two projects were approved in the Lufkin District for $10.9 million and $2.9 million. The projects are designed to resurface the roadway with sealcoat throughout the nine-county district. Work is scheduled from May to August, 2019.
November 16, 2018 - Work schedules for the next week will be altered due to the holiday, but crews will be working part of the week through construction projects and monitoring roadways and traffic signals during peak travel hours.
