November 7, 2019 Austin – The future possibilities are intriguing, and TxDOT wants to know what Texans think will be the most pressing transportation needs for the next 30 years.
November 6, 2019 Lufkin – Work is scheduled to begin November 11 at the SH 103 East Bridge over Lake Sam Rayburn to repair erosion at abutments caused by flooding earlier this year.
Stateline Construction, LLC, Quitman TX, will serve as contractor for the $2.1 million project that will include bridge maintenance and erosion repairs at the impacted bridge abutments in Angelina and Nacogdoches counties.
Update: US 59 from just south of Garrison to the city of Timpson has been reopened for travel following an early morning crash that resulted in a HazMat spill. Drive safely.
October 16, 2019 - A pre-construction meeting was held last week in the Nacogdoches Area Office that signaled the beginning of a new construction project in Shelby County.
Work to reconstruct and widen the roadway will begin in coming days on FM 1645 from US 59 to SH 87. Motorists should remain alert to moving equipment and workers in and near the work zone. Traffic control will be in place during work hours.
September 27, 2019 - The Texas Transportation Commission on Thursday approved more than $514.9 million in new construction projects statewide, with more than $4.7 million approved for the Lufkin District. In addition, more than $40.7 million was approved for maintenance contracts statewide, with more than $2.5 million approved for the Lufkin District.

September 6, 2019 - TxDOT educates public on the proper use of child safety seats
Vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death among children, and the TxDOT is issuing a call to action to parents and caregivers to ensure they are using and installing child car seats correctly.
September 4, 2019 - Texas Transportation Commissioners last week approved more than $817.3 million in new construction projects statewide, with $6.8 million approved for the Lufkin District. Commissioners also approved more than $33.6 million is maintenance contracts, with $3.3 million approved for the Lufkin District.
Shelby, San Augustine and Sabine counties were approved for a $3.3 million construction project. Gibson & Assoc. Inc., Balch Springs, TX will serve as contractor for the project that includes:
