July 23, 2018 Lufkin – Work is scheduled in Angelina and San Jacinto counties on Wednesday and Thursday that will cause traffic to be rerouted.
The US 59/SL 287 Southbound Direct Connector at South First Street in Lufkin will be closed Wednesday afternoon from 1 pm to 5 pm for follow-up inspections to the bridge. Traffic will be detoured to the South First Street exit ramp for motorists needing to access US 59 South/South First Street.
July 20, 2018 Lufkin – TxDOT crews are busy throughout the nine county Lufkin District with construction and maintenance projects. Motorists will encounter work zones throughout the district and should prepare for delays and reduce speed to the advised work zone speed limit. Drivers should stay alert and respect all traffic control devices, watch for flaggers and stopped or slow moving traffic as they drive through a TxDOT work zone. June 29, 2018 – Texas Department of Transportation Commissioners on Thursday approved more than $941.7 million in construction projects throughout the state, with $16.1 million designated for four new projects in the Lufkin District.

May 24, 2018 - A pre-construction meeting was held Thursday in the Nacogdoches Area Office, signaling the beginning of a new construction project planned for SH 7, northeast of Martinsville.
The work will include road resurfacing on a 7-mile section of the roadway from the Attoyac Bayou to Mt. Hermon. Moore Brothers Construction, Lufkin, will serve as contractor for the $1.8 million construction project. The work is scheduled to be completed by mid-July, weather permitting.
May 11, 2018 - Construction projects and maintenance work planned for the nine-county Lufkin District for the coming week includes many lane closures, detours and moving work zones. Motorists should use extreme caution when driving near a work zone or around workers who are near the lane of traffic. If flaggers are present or a lead car is working to guide traffic through a work zone, motorists should be prepared for delays and respect and obey all signage for safe conditions. Remember, traffic fines double when workers are present.
May 4, 2018 - Warm weather has TxDOT crews busy as construction and maintenance projects continue throughout the nine county district. Motorists should expect delays through the work zones and stay alert to workers and moving equipment. Remember the Move Over Slow Down law requires drivers to either move to another available lane or if no lane is available, reduce speed by 20 miles per hour below the posted speed limit when emergency blue lights are flashing.
