November 1, 2021 – As gun deer hunting season begins, U.S. Forest Service officials remind hunters of guidelines designed to make their hunting trips to national forests safe and enjoyable while sustaining the health of the forests.
Here are some other precautions:
-- During hunting season, camping in the Angelina, Davy Crockett, Sabine and Sam Houston National Forests and Caddo National Grasslands are limited to designated campsites or developed recreation areas through February 1.
October 13, 2021 - Officials with the National Forests and Grasslands in Texas, Sabine National Forest, have advised a prescribed burn located in Compartments 140-142, in Sabine/Newton County. This area is located in the

October 8, 2021 – The National Forests and Grasslands in Texas conducted a controlled burn on the Stephen F Austin Experimental Forest located south of Nacogdoches and west of Highway 59 on October 5, 2021.
September 24, 2021 – The National Forests and Grasslands in Texas are waiving fees at day- use recreation sites September 25 for National Public Lands Day.
“We hope this free day offers an incentive to all people to experience the great outdoors in our forests and grasslands,” Forest Supervisor Eddie Taylor said.
Camping fees remain in effect, but day-use fees are waived on Saturday, September 25 at these recreation areas and trails:
September 24, 2021 – The Angelina National Forest and the Sabine National Forest are decommissioning several of the forest's old, worn, and closed camping loops. It includes closed loops at Caney Creek Boat Ramp, Sandy Creek Boat Ramp, and Red Hill Lake.
July 2, 2021 – As the July 4 holiday weekend approaches, officials with the U.S. Forest Service remind the public that fireworks are prohibited in the National Forests and Grasslands in Texas.
Fireworks can create a potentially dangerous fire situation, and Forest Supervisor Eddie Taylor says law enforcement personnel will be watchful again this year.
June 11, 2021 – The National Forests and Grasslands in Texas waives day-use fees at recreation sites on June 12 for National Get Outdoors Day.
