Wanda Lee (Lanier) Cannon passed away peacefully in her home holding hands with her devoted husband and daughter at 5:03 am on March 19, 2026.

Wanda was born to Willis and Mary Lanier (and Frank Bonura) on August 17, 1943, in Beaumont, Texas. She graduated from South Park High School in Beaumont in 1963.

She met the love of her life, Robert (Bob) Cannon, in passing during a brief hospital stay, and it was love at first sight for both of them. She said, “He came in to take out the trash and left with my heart!” After a whirlwind romance of 3 months, they got married on January 25, 1964. They welcomed their only child, Robbie, 4 years later.

Together, they spent many years moving around the US and Germany when Bob served in the US Army. Wanda served as a charter member of the “Camp Followers Association” for 20 years before settling in Shelbyville, Texas, when he retired. She often joked that “home is wherever the Army sends you” but to Wanda, home was wherever Bob was.

After Bob retired, she got her favorite job as “Nana” and never stopped spoiling her grandchildren and later, her great grandchildren. Bob joked that she went to work for Shelbyville ISD (computer aide) and Carthage ISD (library aide) so that she would never have to tell any of them “NO” when they wanted something.

After double retirement, Bob and Wanda built a home in Gary, Texas. She enjoyed her golden years on Lake Murvaul, spending her days boating, fishing, bird watching, reading, working in her flower beds, playing cards and Bunco with friends, spoiling her dog “Baby,” and assembling every jigsaw puzzle she could get her hands on. She loved cooking for people, and thankfully, she taught her special recipes to her granddaughter, Rachel, and a select few other family members.

In recent years, they moved to Center to be closer to Robbie and her husband, Pete. Wanda discovered fairly quickly that if she would put some puzzle pieces in the wrong spots, she could call on Robbie for help with a puzzle “emergency” and Robbie would drop everything to come help her straighten it out. They snuck in many hours of puzzle time that way, and for a while they thought they had Pete fooled, but he always knew what they were doing! Mother and daughter enjoyed a lot of puzzle time together, and puzzles may never be the same again for Robbie.

Wanda loved her family, her friends, and her Lord, and she will be missed by family and friends located all over the US.

She is survived by:

Loving husband, Bob

Devoted daughter, Robbie (Pete) Low of Center

Grandchildren:
Bobby (Gasannia) Jones of Center
Rachel (Bruce) Collins of Rogers City, MI
Christopher Caudle of New York, NY

Great-grandchildren:
Emmet Collins of Michigan
John Collins of Michigan
Gracie Boles of Center
William Boles of Center

Plus many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Wanda was preceded in death by her parents, Willis and Mary Lanier and biological father Frank Bonura; brother, Charles Edward “Sonnie” Lanier; sister, Betty Jo Moore; as well as brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, plus her half-siblings on the Bonura side of her family.

Friends are invited for visitation at 7pm on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at Watson and Sons Funeral Home in Center, Texas. Funeral service will be conducted by Andrew King at 2 pm on Sunday, March 22nd (same location) with burial to follow at Cannon Cemetery in Shelbyville, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you please consider making a memorial contribution to one of the following charities:

Ronald Edward Perry, 74, of Center, Texas, passed away peacefully on March 17, 2026, in Nacogdoches, Texas. He was born on May 24, 1951, in Corsicana, Texas, to the late Barney Perry and Lola (Higginbotham) Perry.

Ronnie proudly served his country in the United States Army. He married the love of his life, Nancy Griggs, on May 27, 1971, and the two have cherished over 54 years together raising four sons. Ronnie enjoyed time spent with his family. Especially his grandchildren. Each of them held a special key to his heart. Ronnie was a man who held his family at the very center of his life. He was deeply proud of each of them and made sure they knew it. He shared a special bond with his daughters-in-law, whom he loved as his own daughters, welcoming them with open arms.

He was known for his old-fashioned charm, Ronnie carried himself in a way that reflected a simpler time. He was rarely seen without his signature penny loafers paired with white socks- a look that became uniquely his. He preferred life without unnecessary complications, which was perfectly summed up by his trusty flip phone. While it may have driven his family a little crazy, Ronnie stood firm in his belief that a phone was meant to “open, talk, and shut.” True to that, he never once sent a text message.

Above all, Ronnie was fiercely loyal. He was the kind of man who would show up without being asked, stand by those he loved without hesitation, and do anything within his power to help someone in need. His kindness, dependability, and steady presence made a lasting impression on everyone who knew him. He retired from Tyson Foods after 35 years of working in dispatch and driving a truck for the feed mill in Tenaha. After retirement Ronnie found his second home driving for the Jones at Ray Jones Chevrolet, Center Motor Company and Center Motor ATV. He drove as long as his health allowed.

He will be remembered for his steadfast love, his quiet strength, and the countless ways he made life better for those around him. Ronnie loved the Lord, served him through his church, and always kept the faith.

Lupita fought a long and courageous battle with breast cancer, showing unimaginable strength, faith, and grace. Even when her body grew weak, her spirit never did. In her most difficult moments, she continued to love deeply, care for others, and hold on for her family. Her strength was a reflection of the love she carried within her.

She was a mother above all else—her children were her world, her purpose, and her greatest pride. Everything she did was for them. She gave them not only what she could, but everything she had—her time, her strength, her love, and her heart.

Lupita had a beautiful soul that touched everyone she met. She never met a stranger, and her kindness knew no limits. She was always willing to help, to give, to comfort—no matter what she herself was going through. Her kindness and love left a mark on everyone who knew her.

Though our hearts are broken, we find comfort in knowing her pain has ended and her spirit is now at peace. Her love will continue to guide her family, and her memory will live on in every life she touches.

To our beautiful Mom, Momma, Ma, Sister, Gigi, Lupita:

Mom… our hearts are broken without you. There is a space in our lives that can never be filled, because you were everything to us. You were our safe place, our strength, our comfort, and our greatest blessing.

Thank you for loving us the way you did—with everything you had. You gave us your whole heart, your time, your sacrifices, and your unconditional love. You always put us first, no matter what you were going through. Even in your hardest moments, you kept fighting for us, loving us, and holding on.

We are so proud to be your children. You taught us how to be strong, how to have faith, and how to love deeply. Everything we are is because of you.

We miss you more than words can ever explain—your voice, your hugs, your smile, your presence. Life will never be the same without you, but we promise to carry you with us in everything we do. We will honor you by loving each other the way you loved us. We find peace knowing you are no longer in pain, that you are resting, and that your faith brought you home. We know you’re watching over us now, guiding us every step of the way.

Mom, we love you so much. Thank you for being the best mom, momma, ma, sister, Gigi anyone could ever ask for.

Until we see you again.
Your children and family

Lupita will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.

Aunque nuestros corazones están rotos, encontramos consuelo al saber que su dolor ha terminado y que su espíritu descansa ahora en paz. Su amor continuará guiando a su familia, y su recuerdo seguirá viviendo en cada vida que tocó.

A nuestra hermosa Mom, Momma, Ma, Sister, Gigi, Lupita:

Billy Mack Wilson was born September 27, 1944, in Joaquin, Texas, to Lillian Victoria (Jacobs) Wilson and Edgar Eugene Wilson. He passed away on March 16, 2026 in Shreveport, LA after a brief illness.

He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Janice Wilson of Old Center, Texas; son, Rusty Wilson and wife Marleena of Joaquin, Texas; grandchildren, Ava Wilson and Jack Wilson of Joaquin, Texas; grandson, Ty Wilson and wife Stephanie of Flat Woods, Texas, and great-grandchildren, Emma Wilson and Ellie Wilson; grandson, Trey Wilson of Nassau Bay, Texas, and his son, Greyson Wilson; brother, Edgar Wilson of Grand Cane, Louisiana; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his son, Billy Lynn Wilson; his mother, Lillian Victoria Jacobs Wilson; and his father, Edgar Eugene Wilson.

Billy Mack worked hard and loved hard. He and Janice were married for 63 years, a testament to their commitment to a bond that God had ordained. They took their vows seriously, and their marriage stood as a shining example of faithfulness and devotion.

Early in their marriage, Billy worked as a truck driver before moving on to the oil field, first in offshore drilling, then working for various oil companies from 1980 until he was 75 years old. He was known for his work ethic and dedication to whatever job he was doing, from handling a wrench on a compressor to supervising multiple fields throughout Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, Mississippi, and Pennsylvania.

He loved his family deeply. He was a loving father who took time to take his sons fishing, attend their sporting events, and push them to be the best they could be. He always encouraged his sons to strive for a life better than the one he had. He was a loving grandfather, first with Trey and Ty, whom he loved so deeply and enjoyed so many moments with. Later, he turned that same love and joy to Greyson, Emma, Ellie, Ava, and Jack.

Billy committed his life to the Lord Jesus Christ in the 1980s and made First Baptist Church his church home. He was faithful in leading his family to be in church and leading them to find the Lord for many years to come.

Billy loved his community and was dedicated to making sure it was safe and protected. He was proud to be part of the establishment of the Joaquin Volunteer Fire Department, from attending its first meeting in 1973 to being voted its first assistant chief. The JVFD held a special place in his heart throughout his life.
Billy loved the Joaquin Rams and the Dallas Cowboys. He was so happy to watch his Rams make the state finals last year and had been a dedicated, if occasionally disappointed, Cowboys fan for many years. He was a faithful friend to many over the years, spending many of them RV camping at various places across the region.
His hard-working attitude never left him, even to the end. He loved having a garden, raising vegetables, and keeping his yard well maintained, even owning three riding mowers to make sure it was done right. Billy will be remembered for his kindness to others and his never-quit attitude.
As he said in his last days, God had blessed him with a good life.

Funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 18, 2026, at First Baptist Church in Joaquin with visitation beginning at 2:00 p.m.  Bro. Paul Silvey and Bro. Eugene McBride will officiate. Interment will follow at Lone Cedar Cemetery in Shelby County.

Pallbearers will be Rodney Dean, Roger Balkcom, Jeremy Boyett, Stephen Ewing, Paul Eubanks, and Mark Hodges.  Honorary pallbearers will be Steve Cockrell, Mark Lawrence, and Riley McBride.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Joaquin Volunteer Fire Department, PO Box 237, Joaquin, Texas 75954.

Barbara June Hooper was born on April 14, 1945, in the Bethel Community of Logansport, Louisiana, to Louis and Rellie Creech. The youngest of four children, she grew up surrounded by the love of her parents, siblings, and grandparents, who lived on the same family land. Being the baby of the family came with all the affection and attention that shaped her gentle, spirited nature.

While attending Logansport High School, June never imagined that her heart would one day belong to a boy from across the Sabine River at rival Joaquin High School. She and Jim dated for five years and married on May 1, 1965. Last year, they celebrated sixty years of a life well-lived and well-loved together. When Jim passed away in September, she never recovered from the heartbreak. She had shared that she was ready to be with him and her family, who were in heaven waiting for her.

She grew up as an active member at Bethel United Methodist Church and later became a member of the First Methodist Church of Logansport. She enjoyed a forty-year career in banking at Farmers State Bank, where she was known for her reliability, kindness, and dedication. She also served her community as a member of the Logansport Town Council, participated in the Republican Women’ s Group, and was a proud member of the Krewe of Aquarius.

June was known for her generous spirit and her exceptional cooking, especially when it was fresh vegetables from Jim’s garden. Her happiest moments were spent on her back porch overlooking the river, a place of peace she cherished deeply. She loved animals, especially her dog and kitties. Everyone who knew her understood the most important place in her heart belonged to her son Wade. She delighted in a day of shopping, an afternoon of Mexican food and margaritas, and an evening at the casino.

On March 6th, June passed away peacefully in the loving care of her nieces, Jennifer Peters and Andrea Tatum. She was tired and had recently shared, “It is well with my soul.”

Joyce Marie Hendricks, 72, of Shelbyville, Texas, passed away on March 7, 2026, in Center, Texas. She was born on May 4, 1953, in Center, Texas, to the late Jack Yates and Helen (Holt) Yates.

Visitation will be held on Monday, March 9, 2026, from 5-7pm at Mangum Funeral Home, 420 San Augustine Street, Center, Texas.

Funeral services will be held at 11am on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, with Bro. Todd Jenkins and Bro. Kevin Windham officiating. Interment will follow at Strong Cemetery.

Joyce Hendricks was a beloved wife, momma, mawmaw, sister, aunt, and friend. Above all else, she was a woman whose greatest joy in life was her family. She treasured every moment spent with her children and grandchildren and filled their lives with love, laughter, and warmth.

She shared 51 wonderful years of marriage with her husband, Verbon. Together they enjoyed the simple pleasures of life from planting their garden, putting noodles out to catch fish, and watching out their living room window at the birds coming to the feeders, or riding their buggy to visit family and friends. Those quiet moments together were some of her happiest. Mawmaw enjoyed frying fish for Easter and hiding eggs for the kids to find, especially the ones with the money in them.

Her pride and joy were her children, Luke and Kim. She would always say “watcha know good?” Then would laugh about old memories from years past, new gossip, or simply catching up, she always loved hearing their voices. Kim kept her updated on the kids and everything happening in Joaquin, while Luke knew she would be calling whenever a new calf was born and enjoyed keeping her up to date with his work.

Her grandchildren were the light of her life. She shared a special bond with her first grandchild, Jackson. He would ride the bus to Mawmaw’s on Friday and stay the weekend. One of his fondest memories was sitting on the porch with her and talking while he waited for the bus on Monday morning. Jayden knew Mawmaw would always have a big batch of all-you-can-eat pancakes ready when he came in from hunting or fishing. Jaylee loved standing on the riverbank fishing with Mawmaw, while Kyleigh enjoyed telling her all about her shopping adventures and showing off what she had bought. Kayson visited Mawmaw and Pawpaw almost daily on the side-by-side to check on them and make sure she didn’t need anything. Mawmaw was always ready to do anything he asked. Kayson and Pawpaw would often make a plan for what they wanted to eat, and Kayson made sure their order was put in. Her love for her grandchildren was as big as Texas.

Joyce’s home was always filled with love and the comforting smell of something delicious cooking in the kitchen. Cooking for the people she loved was no easy tasks as everyone had their own special request. Her specialties included deer steak, dumplings, home made fries, and her famous Cool Whip cookies.

Black Friday shopping was always an adventure. This one particular year we went to Longview and over bought. Carriston told her we would make it fit, only to realize it wasn’t going to fit, she laughed and said “now what are we gonna do?” with her hands on her hip. We required reinforcement and had another vehicle brought to us. Every year after that we would always laugh and ask how many vehicles did we need to take. One of Joyce’s most memorable adventures was when Kim, Carriston, Jaylee, and Kyleigh surprised her with a girls’ trip. They told her to pack a bag and get in the car. For five hours she guessed where they were headed, and it wasn’t until they were almost to the Missouri state line that she finally realized they were going to Branson. She was so excited. From sitting front and center at the concerts, to being the Queen of the Riverboat at the captain’s table, to enjoying dinner overlooking the lake, she loved every minute of that special trip.

Joyce’s kindness, warmth, and unwavering love created memories that will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered for the love she gave so freely and for the strong family bonds she helped create.

William Keith Brown, 58, of Center, Texas, passed away Thursday, March 5, 2026, at his home in the Waterman community. He was first and foremost known as “Dad” to his children, later as “Super Keith” to his numerous nieces and nephews and lovingly as “Super Pop” to his grandchildren. Keith was a man with a larger-than-life personality, a generous spirit, and a heart that made people feel welcome wherever he went. To know Keith was to have a story about him — and most of those stories include laughter. He was deeply loved by his family, friends, and community.

Keith grew up in the Aiken community as the fifth of six children. Life with his siblings was full of adventure, travel, and plenty of mischief along the way. Those early years shaped the man he became and gave him a lifetime of stories and memories with his brothers and sisters.

In 1992, Keith married Beth Borders, and together they welcomed two children, Luke and Chloe. During those years they attended White Rock Missionary Baptist Church and worked to build a strong foundation for their children. Though their paths later changed, Keith remained thankful for the family they built and the memories they shared.

Keith spent most of his life working in the woods as a logger — work he truly loved. He started his logging operation in 1990 as a one-man crew, something that required determination, skill, and grit. He loved the sound of a chainsaw and the smell of fresh sawdust and took pride in providing for his family through honest, hard work. Even on weekends he could often be found on a big machine in the woods, moving timber like it was nothing. He was respected for his work and built lasting friendships with the men who worked beside him.

He also enjoyed raising cattle and took great pride in his hay meadow. Keith was the kind of man who showed up when people needed help — whether that meant pulling someone out of a ditch, loaning equipment, baling hay, or feeding cows.

Keith truly never met a stranger. When he walked into a room, people knew it. He had a natural way of drawing people in and making them feel at ease. He loved making people laugh and would do just about anything to get a good reaction or a smile. His humor, quick wit, and fearless personality made him the life of many gatherings, and people genuinely adored him.

He loved entertaining, grilling, and playing dominoes — especially a good game of 42 when he was winning. His home was always a place where family and friends were welcome, and he took pride in making sure everyone was fed, laughing, and enjoying themselves.

Keith loved the outdoors and cherished time spent deer hunting and fishing. For several years he, his son, brothers, and friends ran trotlines out of Bill’s Landing and Harvey’s Landing on Toledo Bend. They also created their own annual fishing tournament. When the fish were caught, Keith was known for frying some of the best fish around.

Many children grew up spending time at Keith’s place. From tubing in the pond, hayrides, trips to the cave, and countless gatherings, he made sure every kid who came around had fun and left with memories they still talk about today.

Keith was incredibly proud of his two children, Luke and Chloe. He loved being involved in their lives and supporting the things they were passionate about. With his natural athletic ability, he enjoyed helping coach Chloe and was proud to see her advance to the state level in track and powerlifting. Luke shared many of Keith’s interests, especially hunting, fishing, and learning to run equipment. Keith was a fun, but firm and loving parent who worked hard to teach his children the value of hard work, independence, and enjoying life.

Some of Keith’s proudest moments came when he became “Super Pop.” He loved riding Brady and Saylor on the Big Green Tractor, letting them drive him around and often pulling a trailer behind for hayrides. He adored Baron and was overjoyed to welcome sweet Scottie Mae into the family. His heart only seemed to grow with each grandchild.

Keith lived life big. He worked hard, loved deeply, and brought laughter wherever he went. He leaves behind a lifetime of stories, laughter, and memories that will continue to be shared by the many people who loved him.

Visitation will be held from 4pm to 6pm, Monday, March 9, 2026, at Watson & Sons Funeral Home in Center. Funeral services will be held at 10am, Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at Watson & Sons Chapel with Phil Worsham and David Fallin officiating. Interment will follow at White Rock Cemetery in Center.
